Resistance is futile
If you haven't done that already, I'd suggest talking with someone who has. A friend of mine had a front carrier hitch on his F350 for his dual sported CRF450 and it scared the bejeezus out of him. The bike pulled on the front a lot and bounced around like a pogo stick.
He expected it to pop off and go under his truck at any minute.
Most adventure bikes would be bigger & heavier, no?
