Do the USB ports receive power when on battery only?

We're planning on installing the Level Mate Pro Plus in our Imagine 2670MK. The Level Mate has a USB power jack so your not always replacing the CR2450 battery.

Are the USB ports in the camper powered when on battery only?

Thanks,

Dave

They are, but do remember to turn off the LevelMate or it'll be a parasitic draw on your house battery, which is may expensive than a bulk pack of button cells!

Did you already buy it?

the batteries are literally pennies and likely only need changed every year at the worst
Ymmv but I like the idea of it tucked in my front bay out of sight and without cords

I thought I read a post somewhere that the USB were only hooked up through shore power. Easy enough to check that. I am never not on shore so I don’t know

We expect to take delivery the 3rd week of July.

That's a good point on cheap batteries. Also, the newer model has a longer battery life and auto shut off.

Thanks,

Dave

Try buying one locally. Often $7 but rarely stocked. It was a bad design choice when 3AA or AAAs would have been fine and much easier to find.

I can't walk in to a store around here that doesn't have them next to the register; Ralph's, Home Depot, RiteAid, Autozone; and varying different sizes.

Plenty of different sizes here too...but not the ones the LevelMate needs.

Yes, my USB ports are powered from the battery when disconnected from shore power.

I checked the price, $9.00 for 20 Cr2450 batteries :thumb: Also the new model is easier on batteries, the older model burned through batteries fairly quickly. I think I'll delay with any USB hookup & see how it works.

Thanks to all for the comments.

I think you will be much happier

I tucked mine above the drivers baggage door

Out of sight and safe

A simple reach in once ready to back in and turn it on

My LevelMatePRO just takes 2032 batteries which are literally less than 10 cents each

A 10 cent 2032 is almost a guaranteed counterfeit. Huge problem on both eBay and Amazon.

I got lazy. Kind of... I installed my Levelmate Pro+ in the basement. Great idea, I thought, until that battery died. I put in a USB port on the basement, hooked to the same wiring as the light, and power it from there. I TRY to remember to turn it off, but since the light is killed when I use the kill switch just of the battery, I'm not that worried about it.

I've thing to note, the Levelmate is SUPPOSED to go into "sleep mode", where the unit is essentially powered off... It doesn't, and it does eventually kill the little button battery, for me, after about 4 months. So, yes it will be a parasitic drain on your house battery of you connect it to a USB outlet in the camper, unless you unplug it out have a battery kill switch.

Tractor supply had 50 pack button packs for 4.19

It has 10 2032s and 40 other

If you have problems finding the 2045s, Home Depot, Ace, and Autozone (just off the top of my head) stock these. My aftermarket key fob for my truck uses the same battery.

My Levelmate Pro is always on and powered by USB. The battery is topped off using a small solar panel I got at Harbor Freight. I choose this option so that I could turn it on while driving through a campground to find the best spot or when pulling through a long site to know when to stop.

The USB ports are indeed always powered, but they are crappy little minimum-power ports that aren't terribly useful except for painfully slow trickle charging. I replaced them in my trailer with combo USB/power ports so that I could use higher quality fast-charging USB ports for phones and tablets and such.

The levelmate pro is happy with up to 15 volts on the usb power cable. I plan to cut the usb connector off and find 12 volts somewhere to tap into.

Installed mine in April in drivers pass thru opening. Using internal battery and I've never turned it off and haven't had to replace the battery yet. We've put on over 10K miles and stopped at over 40 sites where I've used it each time. It does go in to sleep mode relatively quickly with no vehicular motion. Even re-leveling, I have to manually turn it off/on to trigger it if I've been parked for awhile, the app won't find it in a few hours.
