Hello Everyone,
So, I was underneath my Rig yesterday doing some preventive maintenance and took a couple pictures of my Leaf Springs. According to the person I talked to, he told me they look flat and should be replaced before they break. Looking for a Lipperts Site (not knowing if this is true or not) but the page I saw said Lippert Products (springs) are warrantied for 6 years which seems a little far-fetchedq.

Looking for everyone's opinion on if my springs look flat. And yes, this is how they look like the trailer as they trailer is using its 6-point level system which I'm guessing takes some weight of the Springs.

Hard to say based on not knowing what weight was taken off the springs by the leveling system. Best to review with full weight on the springs and on flat ground.

Set your coach down off the jacks and provide pictures. There's very little curvature now so... Have you weighed your coach in camping form?

If you find the springs to be flat, do not depend on actually getting a warranty claim honored. If you need to replace them, or just want to, find a better quality spring. I have the Dexter ones on mine, and after several flat springs, and one broken one, they keep telling me it is due to my overweight issue, even though CAT scale shows me way underweight (to the tune of 3K lbs). Plus the replacement is the same springs which you can expect the same problems down the road.

Hello,
So, it's been a while since I posted about this topic, but I finally made a road trip and took a picture of the springs while under a load. The first 2 pictures are the right side of the trailer, and they look flat to me, the last 2 pictures are the left side of the trailer where the pantry, stove and fridge is. I know I'm not overloaded or overweight. Defiantly the springs are shot. Thoughts?

Yup, they are flat. I replaced our springs this year. Our drivers side is the heavier side also.

Do agree.... defintely look flat. Long/heavy hitchen slides can be heck on those springs.

Flat, flat, flat. Might not be a bad idea to check the underside of the trailer where the tires are to make sure they haven't been rubbing.

New springs needed... wow. Try that colorado spring company a fellow here has used. He was happy with quality. Not sure what threads his posts are in.

EDIT: Alcan Springs in Grand Junction CO ? I think that is where Eddy got his ?

Not good. Several of the pictures, the springs have a negative arch, not the positive one they should have, even with a load.

Also, as a suggestion, those brake wires need to be better secured. Leaving them loose like that is only inviting trouble, in the near future.

That's the place, but another guy ordered some and they wouldn't fit his trailer. I'm not sure of the outcome of that particular event. Depending on weights, I would likely consider going to a heavier rated spring.

There is also Iron Bear Trailers out of Denver. https://ironbeartrailer.com/ (800) 865-0339.

Here's one link that has some Alcan info. https://www.mygrandrv.com/forum/sho...r-4000-lb-leaf-springs-review?highlight=alcan

Here's the thread that I think you were referencing - seems like he got a refund from Alcan. https://www.mygrandrv.com/forum/showthread.php/48278-Leaf-Springs-Upgrade-Question/page4

I replaced all the suspension components on my 303 rls. I had flat springs as well.
After my most recent trip a I was looking at my leaf springs and found a broken one on the right rear axle.
IMG_3935.jpg I knew it all needed to be changed out, this just confirmed it needed to be done. There are a lot of confirmed issues with springs, hangers etc. on these trailers.
Upgrading the suspension will give me a little more confidence that I have strengthened what I can to beef up the suspension and hopefully avoid another failure.

I went with etrailer springs, Morryde shackles, wet bolts. 3500lb springs.

FWIW, I hang around a lot of different brand RV forums, and suspension problems and broken parts are not unique to Grand Design. That doesn't make it right, but it does tend to point the blame at the frame and suspension supplier: Lippert most of the time.
