I had my Furrion adapter on my trailer plug and went to put that end up in the pin box. Thinking I’d keep it free of dust/maybe water etc. Been doing this for years. Well, it was quite a light show in there. Thankfully everything still works. I found one raised connection end relative to the plug that made contact with the inside of the pin box. So, no more plugs in the pin box when batteries on or connected to shore power.

Another user here of the cap at the end of the plug.

I'm sure that was quite a sparky show and one that is guaranteed to get your attention.

This is an older picture, but I use the Quick Fist clamp and store mine, rolled up right behind the area where you would stuff it into. This pic shows the original break-away cable, which I don't use any more and also without a cap on the end of the plug. I bought some caps from Amazon that are just big enough to fit over the end of the plug. P1000167.jpg

Cap here too. Where we live in PA, we have an abundance of spiders that seem to love crawling into electrical connectors and outlets to build nest.

Yup stuffed with cap on, here also. Use my pinbox aluminum bird nest preventer to hold it in there while parked.

The birds do love that spot!!

Yeah, we found that out. Although we don't (didn't) stuff the power cord into that void. We wrap it around the hitch. We put plastic mesh into that space and covered the opening with same stuff. That's where we attached our outdoor (remote) temperature sensor.

With the cord end hanging down I start feeding the cord into the pinbox when I have about 18" remaining I put the end into this cord holder I mounted to the underside of the pinbox. It has a spring loaded cover similar to plugging into the trucks power supply. Keeps weather and everything else out of the plug itself.

After reading this thread, I thought having the plug cover is a pretty decent idea. So I also got one.

Just don't leave the cord end hanging down with cover on it... If exposed to the weather water will collect in that cap and corrode the contacts in the plug.

I always stuff ours in the fifth wheel area. Never gave a thought to the possibility of shorts. And won't now either. :)

So I found a plastic plug holder that I mounted to the junction box cover for the black cord connections. Curl up mist of the cord and just push up the plug into the holder. KIMG1276.jpg

I like to keep it out of sight thus out of mind of passersby.

Its easy to grab when hooking up too.

Edit: dang picture rotated on me.

Yup, that's what I posted a picture of and a link to the part back in this post.,

I never stuffed the plug up into the pinbox when we had a fifth wheel. Just looped it over and let it hang.

Great suggestions here. I should just use the chord hook GD provides on the back of the king pin. Really, as long the plug faces downward, the chance of rain or moisture getting in there is nearly zero. I was just stuck in doing it the way I’d always done it on previous FW’s.

GD provided you with a hook?
