I have received some PM's about this...so others maybe having a hard time too.
Go to Youtube and watch the video on how to remove and replace the pedal on the toilet and how it needs to be put on just right. Make sure you place the end of the spring in the large pocket to the right of the guys finger that is showing you where to place the spring end. Do not place the spring end in the small area that his finger is on. This picture shows the gnarled up pockets the guy tried to place the spring end in. The spring goes in the large pocket to the right. Line up the other two mechanisms and pop it on. It goes on easily and stays on.
For whatever reason Thetford is less than clear in the video and even more ambiguous in their diagrams on the instruction sheets of their replacement parts.
