We're full-timers and prefer a travel trailer over a fifth wheel. We also prefer no slides, but, other than Airstream, there aren't any larger travel trailers without them. Our Reflection 315RLTS is a reasonable compromise, but it is lacking in certain areas. As I pondered all of this, an idea for a new trailer has started to take shape. I'm calling it a Solitude FT. It is basically our trailer, but with a slightly larger bathroom and larger tanks. It would also have a full solar system (like what I'm putting in) and higher-grade appliances (no Furrion stuff). It would also have a much higher GVWR, as full-timers tend to have more "stuff" with them (1500 pounds/person is often used). So, put in 100 gallon fresh and grey tanks, two or three 400AH batteries, the MultiPlus II and assorted ancillary devices, 2000 watts of solar on the roof, and the additional frame to handle the additional weight of the water, solar, and 3000 pounds of clothes, food, etc.
As I said, this is just a bit of dreaming on my part. I don't expect Grand Design to actually build it, but, then again, who knows?
