looking at a older C4500 ,2006,very low mileage and set up for 5er towing with Western hauler bed. Ive had 2 Dmax engines but just in pickups. I been doing some searches and I believe they have derated HP,only the 5spd Allison ( thats a program change to get the 6th gear), and reared ratio of 4:56. The attraction is the air-ride suspension & sharp turn radius. Im really not having any difficulty with my 2012 3500 towing our 397 but Im close to its max and thinking a little more margin, maybe found a solution to a non existent problem.
Anyone tow or have experience with these Kodiak/Topkick trucks. Pros and cons ?

You will love it except for the mileage!! Back then, the company had them for medium-duty fleet vehicles. As an 18 year old, low mileage truck, be prepared to invest upfront cash on replacing dried and rotten seals, hoses, bushings and so-on as well as full fluid exchanges to make a reliable long-hauler under load.

Thanks guys. Im prepared for a round of PM issues such as all fluids. The big GO/NO Go is whether my Wife can get up in it and for how long as She is disabled & will only go down hill.
As I said, this might be a solution to a problem I dont have. Those voices in my head keep saying " new truck, new truck "
