Is there any place you can get a wiring diagram of the low voltage and 120vac wiring. I am currently on a two month trip and have 5 low voltage lights that just quit, and can not get into the dealer until after March 11. The lights that went out are the left side belly, two blue lights under the bedroom slide out, two lights over the bed, and the flood light under the awning. I am in a Solitude 369 RLS. Could not find a blown fuse.

We are also interested in a wiring schematic for the Solitude 379FL. Grand Design people???

Has been posted and discussed several times... doesn't exist. Suggestion has been made.

Hello, I was wondering if you found any answers to your issue. My 369 just lost the bed lights. The night light is still working, but not the main lights. I checked and only have 9 volts at the light fixture. I have not been able to look into any further yet.

If 12VDC measures OK at fuse panel/other lights, then either faulty crimp connection feeding the problem lights or the light is faulty causing the low 9VDC reading at the light.

The light was disconnected at the time of measurement so I know I have some resistance in the line, however I ran out of time last night and could not start tracking it down. I'm wanting to know the routing of the line from the light to the main body of the trailer so I know where to start tracking. :)

Yep, without "As Built" drawings hard to troubleshoot. Probably run up in ceiling based on Andrew's photos.

Klenger's done some drawings for his trailer, best I've seen so far http://www.klenger.net/

I relied on lots of drawings for my troubleshooting at work:

Traced a couple of wires in my Reflection FW today.
F12 7.5A fuse - Power Center WH/VIO feeds thru basement, to top of convenience panel, feeds a light above water connections, Switch for the Blue LEDs under Bedroom slide, continues on to Bedroom Bed lights over the pillows.

F4 15A fuse - Bath - WH/OR wire - partial trace feeds front closet blue LED lights, Bedroom Ceiling lights

Front Compartment WH/OR feeds front compartment & passthru lights, bedroom drawers USB outlet.

I just got a call from Mike at Grand Design concerning my wiring issue. He was able to tell me about the wire routing and gave me some ideas to look for. GREAT CUSTOMER SUPPORT! THANKS GRAND DESIGN!! :)

Between the electrical mods I've added and reverse engineering the factory wiring, I have a reasonably complete wiring diagram for my 297RSTS trailer. While this drawing is unique to my modified trailer, the factory wiring principals may be useful. Click on the link in my signature and then select Mods - Wiring from the vertical menu.

It's frustrating that an accurate wiring diagram isn't available from the builder how a unit is wired. Winnebago has wiring diagrams available online for their motorhomes. For mine I can get the 12v or 120v diagrams easily. I suspect that GD, along with other trailer manufactures don't provide them because factory QC is so poor that essentially a trailer is a "custom build". No consistency or accuracy at all. It's sloppy construction unfortunately. Sadly you won't know whether wiring runs in the floor, ceiling, walls, or all of the above. One advantage to that sloppiness is that wiring is unlikely to be secured so if you can identify a defective circuit, you might be able to pull a replacement wire through.

Careful, now, GD will be advertising the random routing of wiring and plumbing to be a feature to allow easy maintenance. [G] The sawdust is extra insulation.

I've owned two Winnebago motor homes and the big difference I see between Winnebago and many of the smaller companies is that Winnebago products are highly engineered and then manufactured to the engineering specifications. With good engineering and good manufacturing quality control, you end up with consistently good quality products. While I've certainly read of quality problems with Winnebago products, I've not heard of things like the frame, axle , and tire problems we hear about on GDs. I do think the strong point that GD has is in floor plan design, which certainly attracts a lot of sales.

The big difference between motorhomes and towable RVs is that motorhomes are governed by MVSS (Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) just like your truck. Towables are "governed" by RVIA (Recreational Vehicle Industry Association) which doesn't mean much when it comes to how these trailers and 5th wheels are built.

Just before we closed the deal on our 2018 Solitude, I heard a Minnesota Public Radio talk given by the new Winnebago CEO -- some new guy they lured in from Toro, I think. He was talking about how they were turning the company around and quality was job-one. They were going to be all about quality, customer satisfaction, and leadership in sales.

Now that I've experienced six or so major warranty issues in two months of ownership and seen what's "under the hood" as I've been incorporating my mods, I say that new CEO was just spouting hog-wash. Like a busted sewer pipe.

The Grand Design Solitude is not a well built trailer. It depresses me no end.
