This is a design flaw that furrion refuses to acknowledge.
When I bought a new house, all of the appliances were warranteed by their manufacturers, NOT the builder. But GD "Bought the Appliance" and sold the unit as a package. Big difference from you shopping and buying an individual unit. So you are saying that you bought a kitchen range and the oven temperature does not hold, you should have to chase down Raython/Chromalox to fix the oven?
This.It is IMO a design flaw on the furrion ac units. They put the temp sensor for the ac in the return directly in the ac return in the ac unit. The result is short cycling and a trailer that isn't cool despite being set too an excessively low temp.
So in the scheme of things it wasn't broken, but another trash design from furrion/lippert. I modified mine exactly like the op, and it works infinitely better.
Warranty void I don't really care, now my AC work as it should and I don't have to set it to 60 degrees to get the trailer to 75. and why don't they have a softstart in them from the factory?

RVs are the same way.
It is all manufacturer warranty. GD is not buying you a new TV. The manufacturer is.If your range failed within a year, you could have gone back to the builder and they should replace it free of charge. After a year, then yes the manufacturer's warranty comes into play. Same with GD. Our TV screen went blank within the first year and GD replaced it under their warranty.
But during the first year of warranty coverage it is handled by Grand Design. The claim should be filed through GD.It is all manufacturer warranty. GD is not buying you a new TV. The manufacturer is.
Whenever possible, I handle it myself. I get better outcomes that way.But during the first year of warranty coverage it is handled by Grand Design. The claim should be filed through GD.
I second the getting the parts and doing it yourself. While I have not had any appliances to change, getting the parts sent to your home avoids having your trailer sitting at a dealership for days, weeks, or months. The parts I had sent to me were replaced in a day and I avoided the dealership jail routine.Whenever possible, I handle it myself. I get better outcomes that way.
On my 2010 Sabre, the toilets had leaking seals. The manufacturer sent me new toilets. I installed them better and faster than having a dealer do it.
(I called the toilet manufacturer directly)
This is good news. Can you post the part numbers for these? I've rewired a few of those air conditioners for folks to relocate the temperature sensor from the air plenum to the wall thermostat. It would be nice to be able to recommend an alternative.Furrion has a control board and thermostat that puts the thermistor in the the thermostat. Changed mine on 2025 337rls. Works great
Hey Dive Bar, been a while since I've seen one of your posts. Hope the new trailer is light years better than your last.Coleman AC is one of the main reasons we bought the 398M.
Best in the industry IMHO.

Me too brother, I feel your pain.Purchased a new Reflection 5th wheel on July 15. Had issues with the thermostat and AC not working correctly. Emailed both Grand Design and Furrion and got virtually no help.
Long story short, I did some troubleshooting and research and wound up installing a new Micro-Air thermostat and relocated the sensor in AC unit to the same location as the thermostat and now everything works flawless.
Passed on this information to Grand Design so they could possibly rectify the situation going forward on newly constructed units.
Not so. Grand Design now voided my warranty on my AC because I cut 2 wires and relocated the sensor.
Here is their response:
“I completely understand your frustration and it has been noted. We can only go by the direction we are given from the vendor. With that being said, I'm glad you resolved the issue and it is running better, but I must tell you since you've modified this, it does in fact void your warranty on the AC unit. Hopefully you will not have any issues in the future regarding this. I will consider this issue resolved and close this out. Thank you”
Just bought my first and last Grand Design RV.
Not necessarily. On the earlier “upgraded” controller and board with a bump, it only controlled the heater. A/C temp sensor was still in the a/c plenum. Our 2024 Grand Design Imagine has two Furrion units. The sensors are located IN the T-Stat, not the AC unit. If the Furrion T-Stat has a little bump on the very bottom, this is the space temp sensor which is integrated.
