ERROR SUBJECT LINE--should be without going under the belly

--on a Solitude 378mbs.

my kitchen sensor always read 3/4 full. Even when emptied.

I tried something (home brew ) and it seems to work

in a five gallon pail of warm water, mix one entire box of calgon bath beads with 1-entire gallon of Pine-sol cleaner..

Fill kitchen gray tank almost 3/4 full of cold water . (you have to guess this one)

now add the entire 5-gall bucket you just made. (bucket is last to hold suds level down )

fill tank to full reading with water .

Now drive to storage area or drive around for about 5 miles.

Now let the mixture stand for about a week.

fill gray shower tank to full.

Empty kitchen gray tank

put the cap on drain pipe (or close valve just before drain hose)

open shower gray tank and let water back flow into kitchen gray

hopefully the shower flow reverses the normal flow at the sensors and peels off some debris.

now drain the kitchen gray....and give a little time for the sensor to dry.

worked for me and restored normal sensor indication

We learned about the Calgon/Pine Sol mixture at the Midwest Rally in September. Yes, tank full of water and the mixture, then drive on rough roads will do some cleaning of the sensors.

that fine..but as a PROFESSIONAL SOAP MANUFATURER i have learned that "time" is the best factor to allow the mixture to work.... You have to penetrate the build up first and then and solubilize the coating. That doesn't happen as you drive...but to each their own

I have been using a mixture of Pine Sol and Calgon (liquid, not the beads) for about 3 years now. Put 1/2 cup in each tank after emptying with a couple of gallons of water. Sensors work as good as new, which was never real good to begin with... Actually I get pretty good readings.

EXACTLY. I haven't even paid attention to those sensors for years. Any brand trailer. You can clean them up if you want to. But they will never work for long without constant cleaning. Depending on the factory level sensors is like depending on weather forecasts...you will be disappointed. If you want a dependable sensor get the See Level system or equivalent.

What percent mixture of Pine Sol and Calgon are you using? 50/50 ?

The mixture I use is 1/2 cup of liquid Calgon (2 caps full) with 20 oz of PineSol in a 2-quart container filled the rest of the way with Water. No smell from the black tank ever (I may add a small amount 1/2 way through 6 day stay) and the sensors stay fairly clean, but I never really trust them. I do this in all 3 tanks.

That's pretty similar to what we use. We don't have sewer smells, but how well the sensors work depends on how long we stay still. Since we always run from the fresh water tank I dump when I fill.

We've been using that mix since we bought our rig. But unless we've been boondocking we tend to travel with empty waste tanks. I like to dump about once a week when we're on the road. Sensors have only read 'empty' once since I bought the rig. I don't trust them.

I know we carry 65 gallons of fresh and have 120 gallons of waste between the 3 tanks. Since we mostly run on the fresh tank (not city water) then I know when I go through two tanks of fresh it's about time to dump.
