Flaky Bluetooth Connection

Our RV has the One Control system (panel and phone app) and it uses Bluetooth. It has worked very well until mid-way through this trip we're on in Alaska. For about a month we noticed it started having trouble keeping the connection on the phone. I like to use it to put the awning out among other things. At first it was occasionally flaky, and over the past few weeks it has gotten worse to the point now where it can't keep a connection long enough to do anything with it. Prior to the last few weeks or so it was very solid and never seemed to drop out.

I thought it might have been some of the locations we were staying in (campgrounds) where perhaps there was too much interference. But we're back out boondocking miles from anyone else and it is still dropping. It connects, might stay for 5 seconds, drops, might connect again, and drop, etc. Never keeps the connection for more than about 5 seconds. Anyone familiar enough with Bluetooth to know what would cause it to start having a problem? I have Bluetooth on my Victron smart shunt, Mopeka propane sensors, Levelmate, Govee temp sensors, etc., but none of those have a problem. Thanks.

I'd try a reset. Remove all power to the OneControl board (disconnect the battery) and wait five minutes. Then restart. That may help with the problem.

when is the last time you rebooted your phone?

Three days ago. I regularly close the apps and reboot every week or two. Later in the week we'll be settled at a location for 5 days so I may try the whole shut down process on the RV, and I'll reset the One Control app, unload and reload the app, and start fresh to see if that makes a difference.

Rebooting my phone works for me

Another workaround sometimes.......unpair it from your phone, wait a minute or so and then try to pair it again. I had to do that on my BT DALY BMS for the battery a couple of weeks ago......it's working fine now.

Thanks for all the replies. I reboot my phone regularly so that's not the issue. I've also done all the other suggestions. In the spring I'll pull the panel and check all the wiring. I read a while back in another thread that there could be an issue related to a loose wire or the blue tooth module (or something like that) so my next step will be to check things out back there. I just didn't have time while on the summer trip, or when we returned in the fall before putting everything to bed for the winter.

I reboot my phone a lot as well....But when it has trouble connecting to One control a reboot close to the coach usually fixes it.
I have noticed that it behaves a lot better as in close to perfect when boondocking.
I think all the competing blue tooth items in town may be confusing it?

Thanks. It was pretty much useless once we made it to Alaska so I assume something was jarred enough to cause a permanent problem. Initially, it seemed flaky but then I just couldn't get it to connect at all. Resetting everything didn't help. It didn't work the rest of the trip or once we were back home. We were boondocked several times miles from anywhere so at those points it certainly wasn't interference/competition with others at those points. Maybe I'll figure it out in the spring. It sure becomes a handy feature; I missed it once it was gone.

I did have to replace my wall panel recently. 700.00. And no warranty unless it is installed by a dealer. What a crock. I rolled the dice and did it my self. A five minute job. So far so good

Geez, $700?! If that's what it will take to get Bluetooth back, I'll live without it. Hopefully, I'll find it isn't an issue that requires replacing the panel. Thanks.
