Forum emails

I’m getting a lot of emails from the forum. Looking at my preferences, it seems I have them all turned off. Could someone take a look when they have an opportunity to see what’s going on? Thanks

The emails should all be driven from your choices in your Preferences settings (click your ID in the top bar on the right and select Preferences). It sounds like you have them off. Can you check one more time to be sure you have all the check boxes unchecked for email notifications?

If that looks right then we'll need to know exactly what emails you are getting (i.e. from watched posts/threads, the news emails that get sent, etc.). I assume that these are actual emails and not the alerts that show up under the bell in the right had side of the top bar ( I know - silly question - but gotta ask).

If you still get emails that you don't think you should get we can involve the admins.

From what I see, there are three direct email options:

News and Update
Activity Summary
New Conversation message.

All three are unchecked.

Then there are the two automatic watch options, which have a sub option to get emails. Both email options are unchecked.

The most recent email was titled:

Forum Newsletter Issue 554 - September 2024 - Week 38

I can’t see an option to turn it on or off.

Pretty sure that can't be turned off from this forum (or any mod). It's a weekly newsletter from RV Life but still sort of associated with this forum. It probably got (re)set when the software was switched.

There is an "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of that email. Unsubscribe there. If all else fails we can alert the admins here to stop it. In fact, I'll alert @Janet H . Maybe she can get it done quicker.

I just wanted to be sure there wasn’t a setting I was missing in my preferences.

I’m on often enough that the email is telling me about things I’ve already seen.

Right there with you, I unsubscribed and the emails ceased. Hope you have the same experience.

There are several emails the forum sends out:

1. Subscription updates to threads and forums you may have watched. These can be configured in your profile.
2. The forum newsletter. This is sent once or twice a week and you'll need to "unsubscribe" on the bottom of the email to stop that one.
