Forum Update - We're back! Ask your questions here.

I used to be able to see the preview and directly below that the post that I could edit. I'm not getting an edit area in preview mode here - that usedto be below the preview soit was easy to modify before posting. New preview only shows same post with all edit features turned off.

So if above doesn't look correct, I tried to select a portion of a sentence to delete it and all it did was move it to where my cursor ended on the left side.
I tested a bit with Preview. Seems all it is now is Preview. Have to turn it on to see what post will look like and press the Preview ICON again to turn it off. Not sure how I like that... but, for now, it seems to be that it is what it is.

Robin, John..... I'll take a shot at this until Janet gets some time to chime in - lots of activity going on with the new changes......

Yes, MGRV has always been under the RV Life 'umbrella" (a lot of RV Life forums are along with RV Trip Wizard and RV Life Campground Reviews, which use to be just "Campground Reviews). So you can use the same email address and password for all their sites. Just not sure about having to have an RV Life Pro subscription to do that.

If you want to change your address used here to match your RV Trip Wizard address let us know. We'll have to get the Help Desk or Janet involved for sure.
Thanks Larry,
I'll deal with the spam. I keep multiple emails for security reasons. It makes it very easy to sort out the emails from miscreants:)

OK, here's another one. Once I start a reply with a quote, I can't cancel the reply.
I had to ask about this too.....

Post number 9 in this post explains the following......

About Draft Posts

Partially completed posts can be saved as drafts. You can find the tools to manage drafts in the reply editor on the right side. Expand the 3 vertical dots to reveal this tool.

You can retrieve your draft for up to 24 hours and complete it before posting your reply. Some things to keep in mind:
  • To locate your draft, you'll need to return to the thread where you were replying. Your draft should appear in the reply editor.
  • Your post will autosave every minute or so as you're typing.
  • After 24 hours, the draft is deleted.

@traveldawg
Was just curious as the icon under my avatar says RV Life Pro which I did not pay for on the RVTW subscription.
Because you were a paying site sponsor on the previous forum, and because this forum is free, you got updated to a Pro member at RV Life. Just not sure what the duration is.

You should be able to check that on your account at RV Trip Wizard? Select Account under your user name, select RV Life Pro Subscription. You should see it there.

There are several things to be adjusted. All that said, we wanted to get the forum back online as quickly as possible so please be patient.

Several folks noted unexpected behavior with the reply editor. I believe this is mostly related to the new 'saved draft' function. If you abandon a post in progress by using the back arrow, it is saved as a draft for 24 hours.

You can find and manage these by clicking on the 3 dots in the reply editor and then the little icon that looks like a diskette.

100 percent accurate :)

You can read the details here: Forums 101 - posting, accounts, basics

"The display on the right side of the Forums page displays a list of members who are currently logged onto the forums. The moderator’s names are listed in bold in this display. If you need assistance, feel free to contact any of the moderators."

I am not seeing anything that shows a list of members that are currently logged on the forum. Is this an oversight or maybe just not turned on yet? Anyway, wanted to let you know, in case you aren't aware of it.

I like it better when it showed the actual time the last post was made rather than XX minutes ago. I would browse through and read posts then come back to the new posts page, check the time of the most recent post, then reload the page to see what came in new while I was browsing around. With the XX minutes that does not work.

I had a Picture associated with my signature. It is now gone. Is it no longer allowd? If it is still allowed, how do I add it back?

No longer allowed. And only 3 lines allowed for your signature.

Lots of hints and tips in this link (see post 12 about signatures).

You'll still see some with more lines; that's left over from the conversation. I expect those will soon all get either updated, deleted, or truncated.

Thanks for the question.

Not sure I understand. But a few things....

> once enough time has elapsed (I think an hour) the minutes goes away and the day/date/time updates to show when the last post was made for any thread; seems the same to me other than for really current updates it is in minutes rather than date/time. So while a bit different it seems to be the same effect.

> you can see New Posts in the right hand column; well, at least 5 of them. The unread ones are bolded.

> if you press new posts, select a post and read it and then press 'return/backspace' on your browser you can select the next unread post.

> if you read unread posts and then refresh the page via your browser or go back to 'What's New_New Posts' then any posts you haven't read will be displayed. I am pretty sure this is how it use to work.

Hopefully it is all working for you. Thanks for the comment.

So my three year membership has been covered to a one year subscription?

@Bored Weasel
Check your membership expiration date at RV Trip Wizard (drop down and select 'RV Life Pro Subscription'). I'm pretty sure you will find the 3 year subscription is still active. I think you can do this too on the RV Life Campground web site.

Members on the old forum who paid have been given a free one year subscription to RV Life Pro since this is now a free forum (no optional fee for those who chose to support the forum).

Thanks for asking.

The display is not yet enabled, you should see this in the coming days.

I don't see anything like that in my account settings. I hope you are correct and I just didn't have my 2 years of supporter stats stolen.

Seems like RV Life Pro is sucking up just about every RV community, I get money talks, just sort of sad that big money is eating all the little fish in the pond. Really sad, not everything needs to be part of a bigger group.

New signatures are limited to fewer lines than you currently have BUT the old text was imported so yours still displays more lines. Moving forward if you decide to edit the signature, you'll want to group up some of the info to consolidate lines.

Currently, you have this:

You might be able to do something like this:

Bob (retired) & Vicki
Scuba Diver | US ARMY Vet (Go Cav!)
2019 Reflection 31MB | Curt Crosswing hitch | 2019 Chevy 2500HD LT Crew Cab Gasser

All that said, there are more features coming. There will be a new "garage" built for each members profile where you can fully incorporate this info and in greater details, with images.

The sig images did not import but there is a new option (already available) to add a LARGE image to your profile - a banner image.

You can see what this looks like here on my profile: Janet H

I didn’t explain my normal way of browsing very well

I always go to the new posts screen. I go through and open the threads I want to read, then use the back button to return to the new posts screen and go down to the next thread I want to read. I don’t always read all threads. when I have gone through all of the threads ( which sometimes takes a little while) I look at the time of last post for the thread at the top of the screen. Let’s say that time 6:45PM. I then reload the page and check any threads with a last post time later than 6:45. Then I do a “Mark all read” so next time I come on I only see new threads or threads with new posts. Not having the actual time on the most recent post means that process does not work any longer. I will find a way to work around it.

I think I browsed the new posts the same way you did. I'll know better once I stay off the site for a day or two and have to sort through the new posts I'm interested in. Hang in there... ;)

@BoredWeasel
Did you go to your RV Trip Wizard sign in and check? oh - do you use the same email ID for this site and Trip Wizard? Along with other things, now all your RV Life sign_ins can be (should be?) the same email ID and the then it will be the same password; kind of behind the scenes way of consolidating things for you (or not if you like separate IDs).

Some big things are OK, some not so much..... So far I was liking how my RV Trip Wizard and RV Life Campground interaction worked (when in RVTW and selecting "More Reviews" in the park info boxes opens the campground web site and I am already logged in - that is convenient for me. I'm on some other RV Life forums so one sign-in to remember is nice (so far).
