Full Timer's Roll Call

We are Daniel and Jennifer been fulltime for 1 1/2 years but just bought a 2020 Reflection 337RLS 5er this past april, we tow it with our 2020 Ram 2500 Diesel. getting ready to outfit it with solar and already have 400AH of lithium and putting in a 3000watt inverter. Right now we are in Mesa, AZ for the winter.

We are in our late 30s and never bought a house and was tired of renting and paying someone else’s mortgage so our first RV we bought was a 2000 northwood nash 5th wheel lived in it for the year until we found a great price on the Reflection we have now and own it outright.

Enjoy the full-time lifestyle. There is so very much to see in this huge country.

There is a lot of information on this forum.

Safe travels, KEN

Might as well wake this up.
Not new to full timing, but new to Grand Design. 2020 reflections 273mk. Bought nice, clean used. New 2024 3500 cheby 6.6 gasser this time instead of a diesel last time with my past TT. Over 7 years fulltime.
So far i just moved into the 5ver a few weeks ago, after taking a winter brake from full timing, and found im not ready to stop full time travel. Im only 60, single male.
I started out spending the winter in my cheap forest river TT in eastern PA, then retired in the spring, spent the summer in the Milton PA area right on the Susquehanna river. Headed out in October south.
I do month or months stays. First stop was SC for week for warranty work on the tow pig. 2015 ram 2500 diesel. Next, top of FL for a couple months, then off across to Texas, for a couple months, then off to Wickenburg AZ for the rest of the winter.
Summers have been spent in my home town very north west Minnesota.
Next winter was AZ again for 2 years but in the Apache junction area.
After having left the east coast for my career of doing linework for 32 years, i found FL and AZ to busy and aggressive driving just like my time in NH and PA.
The next winters were Rockport TX area till this last winter i stayed up north.
I spent most of my life on the east coast, so i forgot how long and cold the northern MN winters are, and it was a mild winter this past winter. Not much less than -25f and thats not including the windchill.
The new back to full timing plan is go over the new used rig hear in the small town campground. Stay for harvest to play in the mud with a semi hauling sugar beets, then head somewhere. I grew up on a farm and still love big equipment, and trucks.
I will be looking and planning all summer for my ideal area/s. Warm but not hot, stuff to do, but not crowded and again, aggressive drivers.
Perfect temps for me will be above freezing to 50f for night lows, and maybe 80 if possible daytime highs. Even 60 calm and sunny daytime, is nice for the winter months.
I havent given TN and SC or GA a chance yet, or the lower east besides Florada states.

Good luck with your goal of finding places with good drivers. We've been at the FT game for 10 years now since I retired in 2014 and moved into our new 380TH. Been is all the lower 48, many multiple times. Unfortunately, you have to be the one driving defensively. Our one and only accident is last summer when a fellow on the interstate in OK decided he needed to pass us. He didn't judge his speed or spacing right and did $8,000 damage to our bumper and rear door. No injuries and it is now repaired, but you never know when it'll happen. Unless you plan on being where no people are, be aware (or beware).

Good luck with your journey and have fun!

Billy & Tammy full-timing since March 2024. We are now living in our 2022 Reflection 303RLS w/ 2 labs (Toby & Annie). TV is 2022 Ram 2500 Hemi. We both retired, sold our home and loaded up for a summer of fun. We spent April at Myrtle Beach Travel Park, SC and are currently at Raleigh Oaks RV park outside Smithfield, NC. The plan was all set to travel out west for a few months starting the end of May….. But unfortunately my wife fell & broke her ankle last week, had surgery and is now non-weight Bering for 6-weeks. Luckily we have the flexibility to stay here until mid-July so she can get through some of her physical therapy before heading out. This summer will be a shortened version of the plan. We will spend the winter this RV park as it is near our children & grandchildren, then take off May 2025 for the summer of fun travels.

Hello

Shannon and Joe here and we are new FullTimers. We started March 2024 and are learning as we go. So far it’s been an experience for sure with some bumps in the road but that is expected. Looking forward to meeting new people and enjoy or taste of freedom on the road!!

Bill & Tammy, Welcome to full-timing. There are a bunch of us here on the forum. We hope Tammy is doing better now.

Welcome to full-timing. Love your handle, WolvesOnTheRun. You have earned it, so get out there and enjoy!
Tami and I are having the time of our lives since going full time.

We have settled into the full time RV'ers thing quite well.
After traveling slowly from Oregon in late March 2023 to WA, ID, WY and MT we returned to Oregon for a Oregon State Parks volunteer job at Champoeg State Park. We stayed there for Nov, Dec and Jan 2024. We hung out at the museum/visitor center for 7 days in a 2 week period. It was easy, fun and interesting. We are scheduled to go back for Jan, Feb and March 2025.

We just got back on the road after spending 4 months at Umpqua Lighthouse, near Winchester Bay, Oregon. That was a great place and we will be going back there probably in late 2025.
Picking the fun positions in great locations is our way of really seeing and living in that area.

Full Timers here! Retired from the AF back in June and myself, wife, 2 babies under 2, a dog and cat holding it down in a 2024 Imagine 2800BH. We are living in Wyoming and starting our first winter. We did DIY for boxing in the camper for winter, and have extra heaters inside, though we keep popping breakers no matter how we shuffle the electrical plug-ins around. Open to any advice on what to do for winter. And also Howdy all! Not sure that I've done an introduction yet, sorry about that one!
There are some definite changes I would make if I was to RV shop again! Main ones being a washer and dryer, generator, and a bunk room for the kiddos, a toy hauler is enticing! I have a classic I'd like to haul around in the future

@HamKat, welcome to the forum. It sounds like quite an adventure for you and your family. Reflectex on your windows can cut down on heat loss as well as vent covers.

IS your Imagine 2800BH have 50 service?

We use electric heaters too. I try to keep them on a lower setting if possible.

Does your power post have a 110 / 20 plug that you could run a thick extension cord to the inside of the rv?

You might want to build a backup plan if too many things freeze up.

Good luck, KEN

Been full-timing for 10 years. We choose to be in the south during the winter....have spent the last 7 in Tucson. Not sure we would want to be in colder climes in the winter, but personal choice. Best of luck and enjoy.

If your unit is 50 amp you might want to looking into adding a dedicated 20 amp circuit of your heater if you have an open slot in your service panel.

I would have did it anyway, but the people that had the camper before me added an outside box with a gfi outlet to plug into a single plug then into the gfi that only feeds one outlet in the desk area, for a heater or what not. I heat with electric only when plugged in, so it takes load off one side of the 50 amp.

Just wondering if you finished your solar install? We are thinking about adding it to our 2019 337. Wondering about cost, ease of install, how many watts added, any problems, etc. Thanks

Unfortunately someone took out the 110v outlet from the outside box, we keep the heaters on a lower setting, so far nothing has frozen up.
Yes to the question of a 50amp service and thanks!

Not a choice for us unfortunately! Otherwise we'd definitely go somewhere warmer. 10 years is awesome!

Not an extra slot available but may look into making one. It's crazy to me that every plug inside seems to run off the 1 breaker
