evey once in a while we get kind of a funny smell form the bathroom since but not the kitchen sink, any ideas what it might be. they are separate tanks

Not sure what trailer you have, but in mine, I have three holding tanks. One gray tank for the kitchen, one gray tank for the bathroom shower and sink, and one black tank for the toilet.

The culprit could be one of a few things:
No water in the toilet bowl, possibly allowing smells to make their way into the trailer.
No water in the pea trap of your shower or sink, allowing smells to make their way into the trailer.
Bathroom vent is exhausting more air than what's coming into the trailer, thus pulling air from where it can (toilet, shower, sink, storage area, etc).

What trailer do you have?
What does it smell like?
What's going on when you notice the smell (after you've been towing, stationary, windy outside, exhaust fans on with windows closed, etc)?

As mentioned, it would help knowing what model you have. Best to simply add it in your signature to save you the trouble writing it everytime.
Are you on full hook ups with the gray valve open? If so it might be gas sipping back in from the campground sewer. We always keep ours closed add use the geo method in both black and grays tanks.

Also check the air admittance valve on the bathroom sink drain. If it is loose or bad, it will allow smells to come back up from the gray tank.

I replaced the air admittance valve (AAV) on my kitchen sink last night. You want to talk about a really, really bad odor - it was sway worse than I thought a grey tank could smell. We will begin treating our grey tanks with the same packs we use in the black.

PineSol works better. Galley tanks can get REALLY funky with food decay, yeasts from adult beverages and pancake batteries, etc.

yeasts from adult beverages

One should not be pouring adult beverages down the drain...I believe that is some type of abuse

X2 ! We need to schedule a meeting with Rob to get this resolved. Adult beverages down the sink is totally unacceptable !:nono:

where is this valve located

Here are some pictures which may help. Your 310 setup/locations may be very similar.

The first picture is the AAV under our BR sink. The second picture is the one under our kitchen sink in our center island. The last picture is of the low cost factory AAV (far left), my first replacement of the factory one (center - also low cost and failed after a few trips), and the last white Studor high quality AAV which are performing perfectly today nearly 5 years later.

Here is a picture of my new one under my island kitchen sink. They obviously put these on before they install the piping. I had to disconnect a pipe from the p trap in order to lean the vent pipe out to unscrew the old one. Old one on the left, new one on the right.

Never heard the studor vent called AAV valve. Learn something new.

Make sure it is screwed on all the way. I put a bit of teflon tape on first as an extra measure.

But ... as to the post, what makes you think it is coming from the sink?

And stop using packets. They won't stop your sensors from clogging not a poop mound. At least use the GEO method or the one I use that swaps out dish soap.

Well I don’t smell it when I shower, it’s not the toilet, the only time I smell it is when I’m washing my face or brushing my teeth. I just recently started using the geo method.

I’ll have a look for the AAV. Don’t know if it makes any difference but we have been stationary for about five weeks.during that time I have pumped the tanks a couple of times,

What size threads for the AAV? Do the original ones literally screw/twist off? My 303RLS is in storage so I can't check. Thanks in advance!

Mark - Not certain of size and yes, they do just twist on and off the threads. Go to Studors website and I think the pipe size is listed as well as an adapter piece listed as well.

They can be quite tight or very loose. Some folks have also reported that the threads had some sort of "pipe dope" and others nothing. Our early build had nothing on the threads and when I installed the new ones, I did not use any "pipe dope" either. No smell leakage either.

If any other questions Mark, let me know.
