Furnace does not light up on second try

I have read the other posts about owners having issues with the furnace, from the street side only working to other issues, mine is different. I have a 2016 refelction 357 BHS, I keep the thermostat at 65 and now the furnace will not light up. If I turn the thermostat off and wait a while, turn it back on it will light up but then when it reaches 65 and turns off and it will fail to light up again and ofcourse shut down as it supposed to do. I have tried disconnecting and connecting both bottles, using each bottle on its own, nothing works, temperatures here have been in the single digits and now in the 20s thank God has been getting warmer while having this problem, please if anyone have any ideas or had this issue before I would appreciate the help, thanks.

maybe a thermostat issue. raise the temp on the stat to 75 and see if it works then. it could be a temp differential setting. when a stat is set for 72 degrees, the temp will swing to about 74 drop to 70 then go back and forth and tries to maintain the 72, this would be a 4 degree dead ban. Two up and two down. maybe?

Thanks Apulido for the reply, but the temperature setting does not make a difference, this happens at 60, 55, 70 any temperature, it only works the very first time you turn it on, after that it does not light up again.

Hello navymustang, sounds like the same problem we had with ours. First off is your furnace a Suburban, that's what ours is. If so it might be the same problem we had. It started out doing what yours is but later it would not light at all. first when attempting to relight the furnace have someone stand outside next to the exhaust, listen for a tick tick sound and see if you smell propane. if so then the problem is the igniter rod is to close to the burner tube resulting in a small weak spark. I had to remove the furnace and bend the igniter rod away from the burner tube, it has worked fine ever since. hope this helps.

Hi Joan (@Navymustang),

Please add your 17-digit RV VIN to the "About Me" section of your forum profile, and reply back to this message to let me know when that is done. Thank you in advance...

Best regards,
~ Janice

First check the pressure at the furnace, Needs to be in the 11" range with the furnace burning, next remove the igniter and measure the gap between the 2 electrodes. Must be 1/8". I had same issue last winter, would light once in the morning, go thru one heat cycle and then no workie till next day. Raised LP pressure to furnace and re-gapped igniter and fixed problem. Stove and water heater always worked great and playing with bottles was no fix.

Update to furnace issue....I noticed the circuit breaker on the outside (located inside the exhaust access door) turns to off and therefore doesnt let the furnace light up again, thats why the furnace does not light up until that switch resets again which usually happens after a few hours.... Still looking for a mobile service to come over and help since I cant take the rig over to the shop...

Janice,

I updated the VIN, thanks

Joan
