New to Imagine 2500RL and will be heading out in freezing weather. The owners manual says to never operate the furnace with the slide closed. That will severely limit winter travel. Has anyone operated their furnace with the slide closed? Thoughts? Thanks for any input.

Go for it. Won’t hurt a thing

As long as bringing in the slides doesn't obstruct any of the furnace vents, you're OK. Just be aware that pulling a trailer down the road in cold temps with the heater on will suck propane. The 50 - 70 MPH winds created by travel drastically increase the energy loss from inside the RV. If you drain the tanks and blow the lines with a compressor, you wouldn't have to run the furnace.

Thank you for the replies. Just wanted to be able to do it if needed Will be heading south next week and may be a day or so before we get to warmer weather. I would like to be able to have heat on while loading (have to have slide closed) and maybe stop for an hour at a rest area to turn on heat. Thanks again.

I have a 2500rl and ee have run the heater with the slide in. Not while driving but during a short break. Kind of a pita since the thremostst is in the bedroom which you cant get to with the slide in other than exiting and entering from the outside door... But there are no ducts etc that are blocked.

Thanks. That is how I was planning on using it. Just during short stops, or when stopped overnight when slide cannot be opened.
