We have a 2023 Solitude 310gk. It came with a Furrion, 12 volt, 20 cubic foot refrigerator. We conitinue to have problems with the refrigerator not working. Grand Design has already replaced it once and the new refrigerator is not working either.

Does anyone else have this refrigerator? Does anyone else have problems with this refrigerator not working? Does anyone have this refrigerator and it works great?

Thanks,

Barb

Not to be too nitpicky, but what exactly doesn't work? Does it get power but won't cool? What is your battery situation? Type, and how many?

We have the 16-foot model, and it works great. But as Hoopy Frood said, what specifically is the issue you're having? If you search the forum, you'll find a few folks who have had issues, many of whom have posted the fix.

It gets power but does not cool. The freezer on the 2nd fridge worked longer but is not cooling very well anymore. We have 2 lead acid batteries that are fine. We have had multiple technicians out and they are working with Grand Design and Furrion. I am wondering if other people are also having problems with this refrigerator or if we just happened to get 2 lemons.

When I search the forum all I find is to replace the fuse. Our fuses are fine :(

I have read of some people having issues with the Furrion 12V refrigerators, but considering the numbers, it's hard to tell if it's a widespread problem. Sometimes it's the Little Red Hen, reinforced by forums, Youtube videos, and Facebook.

Very true. It would be nice to know if it's the Little Red Hen; if not I would consider getting a different kind of refrigerator

Since GD made the shift to 12-volt frigs a couple of years ago, a lot of people have them now but we're not hearing a lot of complaints. It must be very frustrating to have two units go down on you, hang in there, I'm sure it will get sorted in the end.

And FWIW, many who defend the 12V compressor fridges say they have been around in boats for quite some time. So not necessarily new tech.

Thanks; that is very good to know.

We have the same fridge in our 2024- 380WB, that we got in Oct. Spent 6 mths living in the trailer with no issues what so ever with the fridge and have been very impressed with it. It is nice on travel days to not have propane running or filling the fridge with ice packs as we use to do with our previous trailer that had the Norcold 110/ propane fridge in it.

Excellent! That is so good to hear and gives me hope!!

We have the 20 cu ft model in our 2023 390RK (build date May 2023). It stopped cooling the first time within a few months. The interior light and control panel worked, but it wouldn't cool. Found a tip to pull the fuse then wait 2 minutes before reinstalling. That worked and the fridge worked fine for another couple of months. Then it stopped again, but this time the "reset" procedure didn't help, plus the interior lights kept flickering. Found similar stories (on here?) where the solution was replacing the main control board. We travel full time, so taking it to a dealer was not an option. Through GD customer support we were able to get Lippert (the owner/manufacturer of Furrion) to send a replacement board, which fixed it. Then a couple of months later it quit again. This time the "reset" procedure worked. It hasn't completely stopped working since then (a month or so ago), but it now has large swings in temperature (from 30 F to 42F). If they can't get it working satisfactorily, I'm going to chunk it and get a 120 v residential (an absorption fridge is not an option since it would require vent holes).

That is unfortunate. Thanks for posting your history and your possible "solution".....we might also need to consider the 120v residential.

We have the Furrion 16 cf residential fridge. When we picked up the trailer the lights came on but it would not cool. It was replaced under warranty and the new one has worked fine so far. (6 months, fingers crossed). I believe this is a pretty common failure on these fridges.

We have a 24 GD 390 GK with the 20 cuft fridge. First month had to pull it out, sent diagnostics to Furrion/Lippert to permit repair. Had to replace the control board. Been working so far.
For us it is a really poor install. The kitchen island has to be removed to pull the fridge. Now the island is less sturdy because of the repeated r&r’s

Hope it lasts. They replaced the control board on our first fridge but it did not fix the issue. I am very frustrated that Grand Design/Furrion is having us jump through hoops. The replacement fridge lasted about 4 weeks.

My friend and I were trying to troubleshoot his 12 V Furrion refrigerator in his new trailer where the fuse kept blowing. I was on the phone with him. We could not come up with an answer so it looks like he will cut his first camping trip in it short. That was today. I thought it also ran on 12 volt through the converter on shore power by passing the 12 volt fuses but maybe not unless someone knows.
