Good afternoon folks,

First time RV owner, just purchased a 2024 GD Imagine 2670MK. Came from the dealer with two A/C units (a bedroom unit and a living area unit).

Both units worked great during our walkthrough, and for the two short (1-2 hour) at-home setups we did before taking our first trip.

Setup at the first trip- the living area a/c unit short cycles. That is, it will blow ice cold for about 30-60 seconds and then cut off. It does this sporadically. The bedroom area A/C is great.

After a ton of research, I have confirmed proper placement of the freeze sensor, pulled the room temp sensor down through the unit cover to make sure it is getting an accurate reading, etc. The unit still short cycles. The Furrion “Thermostat” reads a correct temp and no error codes but I understand that it isn’t really responsible for telling the a/c unit to kick on and off.

I am open to any advice to fix it, as I know I am not the first person to have this issue with this Furrion model. It is mildly frustrating to say the least that a brand new RV that previously worked completely fine is having this issue.

Thanks in advance

First off, welcome to the forum, it's great to have you with us. Short cycling has come up a lot on this forum. Try this search to see if anyone has come up with a solution.

My 2024 IMagine 22bhe short cycles as well. Our first two trips the AC would eventually cool the camper down, but I had to turn the thermostat down to 65. It would reach temp (temp was inaccurate, and definitely not 65 even though it said so) and then would short cycle while trying to maintain temp. I could tell it wasn't really dehumidifying the air as I was not getting any condensation running out of the unit on the roof. All other campers by me had condensation running off their gutters, except mine. This is probably because it would short cycle and the compressor would not stay on long enough to produce condensation.

Took it to the dealer and they said they had the AC run all day and it produced condensation and did not short cycle. Took the camper out last weekend, and low and behold, short cycled the entire time. Grand Design support has not been any help. Super frustrated because this is just one of the many issues we've had with our new camper. Owned it for about 1.5 months and so far has been back to the shop for about 20 days during our short ownership. This camper was put together sloppy and uses cheap (Furrion is poor quality IMO) materials. Thought Grand Design was supposed to be one of the better ones.

How are you plugged in? If you are on a 15a cct with a less than ideal extension cord, that is how your A/C will behave. Try a larger diameter cord and shut off the fridge. Then try one a/c...bet it works on low at least, probably high as well.

I haven't tried it at home using a 15 amp adapter. Both times have been using the 30amp plug with a 30 amp Watchdog Surge hooked to 30amp shore power at the campground.

I'm sorry Justin, I was responding to the op. For you I would first try without the surge, that way you would be duplicating, more or less what the dealership probably did.

No problem. Do you think the surge protector could cause an issue?

We had similar issues when running both a/c’s. First with the temp sensors up in where the filter is the temp was reading way off. Poked the sensors through the filters and they started short cycling. I called Furrion and they said that when running both a/c’s the fan needs to be on high or low not auto. Put the sensors back under the filters and changed the fan setting to low on both units. That stopped the short cycling for us.

Hope this helps and welcome to the forum.
