So just a simple question I have installed my new Furrion back up camera and paired it with the monitor. The monitor never shows the camera. I have been told that my 2022 GMC 2500 HD 7 pin doesn’t have enough power to supply the camera due to some pulse power technology at the 7 pin hook up. So apparently Furrion has an adapter plug you have to use. Has anyone heard of this.

Doesn’t the camera get power from the RV’s battery? Not sure what the 7 pin connector or truck has to do with camera power. Maybe I’m missing something about how things are connected.

Can only speak for our camera but power comes from the TV through the running lights. You need to be plugged in and have the TV lights on so as to power the trailer lights.

Same here. The Furrion camera is powered from the RV running light circuit. Did you pair the camera with the monitor with the special cable and then install it or did you install it and then pair it? If the latter, how did you pair it if the monitor never shows the camera?

Power comes from the truck as stated above. My Ram works fine but I've heard that newer GM products use a pulsing current on the lights and require some type of adapter. I've not worked with one myself.

Thanks! Now I get it. I guess because mine is powered from the RV’s battery I was confused. So with these trailers (and cameras) it sounds like you have to leave the truck’s lights on?

From my experience and my readings on this and other Forums, yes.

That stated, you may still require the “adapter” to obtain the best performance from the camera.

Yes. Specifically the clearance lights (on the camper) must be on. With my Ram the daylight running lights do not power the tail lights. You must manually turn on the lights.
On a Keystone camper that I owned the camera was hardwired to the camper electrical system without an on/off switch. I rewired it to the clearance lights.

Yep, you heard correctly.

Look up Furrion camera adapter.

Seems like it is hit or miss on GM products. Some work fine, some need the adapter.

Based on what I’m seeing I’d probably rewire the camera to the RV’s 12v system and forget all the power issues related to running lights.

Now here is what I don’t get….. 12 volts is 12 volts. Sure, the current can vary based on loads, but at the end of the day 12 volts is still 12 volts… so does the truck really put out less than 12 volts?

Had the same problem. Have the same truck. Bought the adapter. Camera works fine using it.

The adapter that will fix your problem is available at Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BW18PJ4...49TE2AOD&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it

You need the adapter. The electronics on the newer trucks are too fast for the camera. Connect the adapter and turn your lights on. At least your parking lights

Really not sure how much the voltage varies in newer GM vehicles but I would guess it fluctuates enough to cause lag in the monitor. I have a power booster on mine that keeps the voltage above 13+ volts and coupled with the remote antenna (also powered) have no lag at all on our Haloview.

My furion is installed on the 310’s prewired circuit. Power for the receiver is thru the 12v adapter (lighter socket) in the cab. To get a picture the truck’s lights mst be in the ‘on’ position. Not in the automatic position. Get a good, clear picture when driving and parking.

Your truck likely uses Pulse Width Modulation to control the voltage/current going to the outputs of your 7 way connector. We have a 2021 Silverado 2500HD and had the same problem. The truck monitors the load and determines what current to send what it sees. Kinda crappy set-up but it is what it is. I went through the options with the Furrion techs back then (2021). Back then the Fusion adapter was not yet released for this. What I had to do was wire the running lights that power the rear and side marker lights directly to the battery using a relay and switch. In order to use the rear and side cameras I have to turn on a switch that I mounted in storage area. Not optimal but it works. With this set-up I can also monitor the cameras from inside the TT without being hooked up to the truck. To be honest though, I stopped using the cameras all together. Havent used them in the last three years. I find them distracting and not all that useful on the road. My mirrors (and my wife) tell me all I need to know. Here is one of several threads on this subject from others who had the same issue (assuming I'm understanding your original post correctly.

Just want to say after reading all this I am glad my camera is powered from a circuit in the RV. I installed it when I first got the RV and it has been powered on since then (well, at least when my battery is connected - which almost always). I even went as far as putting a switch in the circuit for the camera which is the circuit that powers the vent fan in the kitchen - and I've never used it.

PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). power boosters, fluctuations that lag the monitor, cigarette lighter circuits with relays. I'm ready to implode over the crazy stuff we all have to do these days because of software controlled trucks and cars, and the way they operate accessories we put on. So much is software driven these days that manufacturers can't keep up with us and out "inventions".

Being an electron technician / engineer forever I having worked around computers since... well forever,I have but one feeling about hardware and software to control things... Hardware works until it breaks, software is always broken - until it is 'patched' but that only breaks something else......

Thank you for the response , I agree very frustrating situation. I have been assured by Furrion that the pigtail they offer is the correct fix for the power situation. One thing after another.

Yes I have a 2021 GMC DENALI and I had the same problem. You will need to buy the Furrion adapter plug to correct the issue and the trailer running lights also need to be on.
