I have had the E5 error code now more than once with my 2023 Grand Design Momentum 397. The first time it happened was after a large downpour. I followed the instructions to blow out the exhaust pressure switch hose, and it worked. The second time it happened, I tried the same thing. This time, there were large amounts of water in the water heater area/exhaust vent. I dried it out, but it still didn't work. I received the E1 error code, so I gave up for a bit. After waiting for several hours, the Flue fan started up and I had hot water again. During the time I was getting the error codes, the Flue fan would twitch and try to start, but would not.

After about a week, we had another rain, but the hot water continued to work. Yesterday, however, it stopped with the E5 error code. I tried once again to blow out the exhaust pressure switch hose. No luck. I called a Mobile Service Tech, and he check voltage on the Flue fan. It shows positive voltage when I try and turn on the hot water.

Any other recommendations on what to check? I did call GD customer service, and they have a ticket open.

Update- contacted Lippert. They sent me a 2 step troubleshooting guide which involved blowing out the exhaust pressure vent hose and unseating and reseating the fan connector to the control board. They told me that if that didn't work, it was a full replacement.

Wait on resolution from GD.

Update resolution from GD. Water heater was a full replacement. Grand Design shipped me a new one and I had a mobile tech install. Back to having hot showers again. :)

Thanks for your reporting on this situation, glad you have hot water again  Would you be willing to post the troubleshooting guide Lippert sent you? It might be helpful to others with a similar problem.

They had me blow out the tube as referred to in previous posts with the E5 error code. They also had me remove the connection to the same sensor and then plug it back up. Neither worked.

I've seen a couple of these threads about water getting into the exhaust pressure switch hose. It sounds like a design flaw. How does the water get into the hose? Is there some modification that can be made to stop the hose from getting water in it?
