Garage seat supports

The legs under the seat are weak, to me anyway. I noticed last night one of the pins has broken, I need to take a closer look today. Has anyone replaced these with something better? I plan to build some support posts from wood for when 2 adults use it as a bed. I find the bunk too high. I understand the bunk can be lowered some but it seems it would still be more comfortable to be at the seat level for getting in and out of bed.
