Going to Replace the Exterior Steps

We have a 2021 Solitude 310gk 5th wheel. It's equipped with the MORryde 'Step Above' stairway that is lifted up into the doorway when you are ready to close up the RV. We aren't sad about replacing them as we don't like them anyways.

I've blown out my knee and the surgery for the new knee is probably a few months away still. I had a cortisone injection today and hopefully that will keep me at least somewhat pain free until surgery.

Seeking advice from folks that have replaced their exterior stairs. We are looking online and because the Solitude is tall, it seems that we'll need the 5-step, and we want to get ones with a 5" rise between each step.

What did you replace your original steps with? Are they they kind where the top step of the new ones rests on the top stop of the old ones? Or did you remove the old steps and have a new stair assembly that is bolted on the RV, or is it freestanding?
The most important question is, are you happy with them?

I'm editing and adding in systems as we find them, with our thoughts:

--RV Co Manufacturing Portable Steps and Decks (RV Co Steps)
Has some models with a 5" rise. Can keep current stairs as they go under the the RV Co steps.
--Hofmann (HCCR RV) Steps and Decks
Can order in 4", 5", 6" or 7" rise. Look at their "StairLite" models.
--Sunrise Sequoia Steps:
Pretty much deck & step systems. Portable. Expensive.
--Torklift
Step rise is too high at 7.5". They don't mention any ability to adjust the rise so I'll be calling them to ask about that.
--ETrailer
Carries quite a few different manufacturers including some from above.
--Amazon
Carries quite a few different manufacturers including ones above.

Thanks for any advice.

After researching and calling the difference manufacturers, we decided to order "Port-A-Steps' from RV-Co Manufacturing.

They set-up and fold-up really easy and we get to keep the MORryde steps that came with the RV as the new steps lay on the top step of the top step of the MORryde 'Step Above' steps.

What we liked about keeping the original MORryde steps is if we stop on the side of the road or need to get inside the RV, we can just pull down the MORryde steps and use those without having to build or set up the new step system to the entry door.

The new steps have a 5" rise between the steps. Easier to maneuver than the 8-1/4" rise the MORryde steps have. RV-Co gives you a foot stool to put on the ground if you want to use it.

The only thing I'd change, and it will be easy to do, is replace the top bar on the left-hand side of the new stairs so it meets up with the handrail that is on the RV.

So far, we are very satisfied with the RV-Co 'Port-A-Steps'.

The step cavity may still be there. The cutout in the sheet metal might need to be made.
That was the case with my Momentum. Granted, it is a 2018 model, so they may do things differently now and NOT put the step frame there, but on mine, it was there. I did exactly what you suggested......cut out and opening in the skirting, then lined the cutout with some door edge molding that almost perfectly matches existing stuff on the trailer. I bought and installed the TorkLift Glow steps and have been using them ever since....circa 2019 or so.

Interesting solution. I’m going to look into it. Thanks.
