Good Paying Savings Accounts

Thanks for all the responses. I was so thrilled to find an option for getting decent interest rate while keeping the money completely liquid without minimum balances or tying it up for months/years. However, I see here that there are options out there that are paying more than what I'm getting at this point. Glad to see so many others were already aware of these options. Apparently, I'm late to the game and didn't know the options were out there, or that putting money in branches that are not local was no big deal.

Never to late.... till your heels down (or extra crispy) staring up at the grass! ;)

I do also have Fidelity non-IRA account where it's mostly held in mutual funds but if placed in cash "fund" it's currently paying 6.5%. Our US Bank accounts (money market and checking) pay a pittance. But we use them in tandem to move money between them online, which is great.

Hi Chad, I also use Fidelity for any funds that I want to have generate interest. In other words, I avoid saving accounts at the local bank. Which fund are you getting the 6.5%? The cash funds that I have are only getting 4.9%. I'm always open to the idea of making more money by doing nothing. I do enjoy how easy it is to work with Fidelity and to move funds around.

I'm also interested in a Fidelity Fund yielding over 6%. I don't think it's been mentioned but Fidelity offers short term T Bills yielding 5-5.4%.

My apologies. I said currently paying 6.5% but that was the rate provided in my last meeting with our CFP. I should have said "as high as" instead of currently. I see that it's 5.02% over the past year. I should have given it more thought before I wrote that. The cash fund FDRXX. Perhaps that's the same for anyone that parks money in the cash fund? Sorry for getting your hopes up for a better return. :(

I'm in the FZDXX and that is paying 5.13% as of today. I think that is Fidelity's best money market right now.

You had me really excited for a minute thinking I could get a higher rate. Had me a little depressed too thinking that I had missed something. lol. I have the SPAXX and it is right at 4.95%. I will check out the FDRXX and see the difference. This forum has help me a lot in spending my money on cool gadgets, finally, maybe it will help me pay for some of those items.
