Gooseneck Adapter -- Why Not ?

Note: The Gooseneck Adapter is completely different from the Reese GooseBox which I highly recommend.

Great video explanation. RV owner obviously not a GD forum member or he would have received sage advice advising against such a hitch like I did. I had considered similar hitch to lose the weight of my Superglide and make my truck bed more accessible. When I mentioned it in one of my post I had several forum members politely inform me I was nuts and proceeded to explain the reason why I should never ever use a gooseneck adaptor for my truck/Solitude. I don't recall the forum members handles but I truly appreciate their wisdom and advice. To this day I still have my Superglide.

We do not own a 5er but hope to someday. Does everyone have the same feelings about swapping the entire coupler to a gooseneck? I'm prolly not using the right terminology but I have seen replacement gooseneck couplers that mount in place of the king pin on the trailer. I assume this is acceptable and wwwaaayyy better that the "adapter". Curious if anyone has a similar setup?

If it puts the same forces on the frame as a gooseneck adapter, it's still a bad idea. Look at the Reese GooseBox pictures in the original post by [MENTION=22656]SolarPoweredRV[/MENTION] above. It's approved by Lippert (the manufacturer of the frames on our GD RVs).

This is one that caught my eye from youtube. They call it an adapter but I believe its similar to the reese goosebox. Just curious of you 5er's prefer what I'm going to call a "standard" 5th-wheel connector, or a gooseneck to free up bed space.

There's been some chatter on the forum regarding the Gen-Y. Most are happy, one member removed and returned theirs. I understand the company is working with Lippert to get it approved, but as far as I know, that hasn't happened, yet. I would still go with the Reese GooseBox if that's the direction you want to go.
