I never paid much attention to filling my fresh water tank but on our recent stops we were using the tank water since the pressure seemed a bit low at the campground spigot.

It seemed it was taking a long time to fill. So I looked at it was only filling at about 2.1 GPM. That seems low to me. Running the water produced a higher flow.

Can this be an issue with the Nautilus panel?

Larry, I have a water flow meter that I put on the city water line when I'm filling, so that I know how many gallons I'm adding to or putting in the fresh water tank. With a regular water hose (the one I use for camping and hooking up to city water, I see about 5 to 5 1/2 GPM going into the tank. 2.1 GPM seems really slow and just wondering if you are running it through a water pressure regulator also. Maybe that is the restriction point if you are using one.

I just timed it hear where i am at for filling off the city water, 11 mns till it started to come out the overflow. Said to be a 52 gallon tank on this rig.

I've been faced with only 2 gpm on occasion. Painful wait! I would expect you are running the water through a filter? Losses there. As mentioned, pressure is a factor as are hose diameter and cleanliness of the coarse screens. Just do some experimenting. Put your flow meter right on the CG spigot. Compare then with flow out of regulator and regulator and filter. Do check the screen on the Nautilus inlet. If all checks out, I'd then look at the inlet for a faulty check. You can actually easily replace the Nautilus' inlet with a standard FW inlet with check in brass if it's the problem.

Wow, I only get about 1.3 gpm using the onboard pump with nautilus in sanitize mode to fill the tank. Wonder if I'm doing something wrong.

I haven't timed it, but I'm guessing I don't get much more than 2 gpm when using the powerfill tank. I might get a better flow using the aux fill (which on my unit just bypasses the filter) but I haven't tried it.

I ran a few tests, all from my house at 60 to 65 psi as set on my regulator:
  • No water softener or filters: 4.5 GPM to RV fixtures (and black tank flush)
  • No water softener or filters: 4.0 GPM to fresh water tank fill
  • With water softener and filter system: 4.0 GPM to RV fixtures (and black tank flush)
  • With water softener and filter system: 3.2 to 3.5 GPM into fresh water tank
Overall, the flow into the fresh water tank is about .5 GPM less than to the faucets. Given the less than scientific way I measure things, the flow rate is most likely the same when using the faucets or filling the fresh water tank.

I think when I originally measured that 2.1 GPM filling the tank I was at a park with low pressure to begin with. So now at least I know.

oh - when I fill my fresh water tank I just let-er-rip (keep filling) until it overflows.
