I found the cost of reupholstering Lippert's garbage was throwing good money after bad.
Their frames are plywood and cardboard.
Any faux leather is going to be polyurethane-based composite and while you can extend the lifespan of it by routine applications of 303 protectant, it will eventually decompose.
Leather residential recliners are a good option, but trying to find wall-away units with a matching sleeper sofa ...
proved impossible for me.
So, I went with Rec Pro and the furniture is a decent trade-off, IMO.
Their Suprima leather is reported to be abrasion tested ( I sanded the swatch myself and it held up remarkably well !!)
It is also guaranteed against hydrolysis for a couple of years, two or three ??
It is very comfortable and the Suprima fabric seems more rugged than my two previous Lippert furniture pieces.
Yes, I actually was dumb enough to take them up on a cheap replacement offer and it was a mistake..... BIG MISTAKE.
The Rec Pro recliners use Legg and Platt mechanisms which are a higher quality mechanism and Rec Pro's customer service has been great to work with.
That's been my experience so far, but time will tell.
