Anyone else receive the 24V-861 Safety Recall ? Just came in the mail and it seems to be the same as 22V-308 that was issued back in May 2022 for the defective propane disconnect. Not sure what is different and why you need to address this new recall if you already addressed the May 2022 recall. Confused in NJ

I received the notice. From what I'm reading, whatever recall solution they did prior did not fix the issue. I emailed GD directly (the dealer from where I bought is no longer in business) requesting they send me the parts and I'd complete the fix myself. Apparently the NHTSA does not allow owners to complete recall repairs. Does anybody know what specific part needs to be replaced? I'm sure that even if I purchase it myself, it will be less cost and time/hassle of bringing it to a dealer.

Yes, the initial recall was thought to be due to overtightening at the factory. Part of the first recall was to inspect for cracks.

Turns out, it is an actual defective vendor part. Now, they want to replace all of the affected parts, regardless of inspection.

Thank you for clarifying. When the first recall was issued I replaced the quick disconnect but was informed (sent me a notice that my recall had not been resolved) that my replacing it did not address the recall. During some maintenance work at an appoved GD service center they inspected the replaced unit and that resolved the open recall.

Other than the disconnect (which I already replaced) what other parts need to be replaced ? Dragging it into a service center for a simple repair that took me 20 minutes to complete makes no sense.

I also received that recall letter. I will not be taking mine to tje dealer as I don’t trust them to perform the work while I wait. That turns a 2 hour round trip to 4 hours of towing.
If GD does not authorize a mobile tech to do the work, then Ill replace the part myself and let the recall remain open.
I will also be asking them to ship me a part as “ good will”. If not then Ill buy the part myself.

I just called the deal here in Colorado Springs. They told me it's a shut off valve under my coach. I had no idea of a shutoff valve other than turning off at the tanks. I thought I knew every inch of my rig. No idea about a shutoff valve under the rig. Will look to night. Black cap bad, yellow or blue cap good.

Yes, it is the quick connect blocks that have the small lever "shut off".

Could also be at the slide outs, since they use a similar quick connect for running the LP lines into the slides.

Will do. I would expect one of these near appliances? Furnace and water heater are next to each other, should be one there. The oven is in a slide, should be there, Frig in the rear maybe just end of black pipe. That's my thoughts.

On my 2970RL, it is the quick disconnect for connecting a grill located to the right of the entrance door mounted to the frame. It is exposed and easy to change out.

Thank you all for your help. I'll let you know what I find.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Thanks for the comments.

Is that what they told you? Interesting. I received the recall notice as well. I have the yellow plastic caps on my valves.......I'll call the dealer, it'll be interesting to see what they say.

Update. On my rig Solitude 390RK, there is a quick disconnect with valve on the frame under the oven slide. I have attached a picture of the offending connector. I submitted this picture to the dealer, this is the bad connector based on the part number. The rubber cap was long gone. They have ordered the part and will call me to bring the rig in. They said I should be in and out in about an hour. So if you got a recall, check for the part. I hope this helps.

I am in the same situation. I called GD. They told me it's just the quick disconnect fitting, and they could not just send me the part, as they need it pressured tested after swapping out the disconnect fitting. The tee is not part of the problem unless it's cracked in some way.

I do not plan to take 1/2 a day out of my life to swap out a low pressure $15.00 gas fitting. I plan to order the $14.35 fitting from Amazon and swap it myself.

Flame King 1/4" RV Propane Quick Connect Adapter for Propane Hose, Propane or Natural Gas 1/4" Quick Connect or Disconnect.

Tried to find a USA manufactured fitting, but that seems to be impossible. Seems China is the only place that make them......

If anyone has found one manufactured in the USA, please share....

Onward.......

I'm going to the dealership tomorrow to get the quick disconnect replaced. I sent a picture of the PN of the old connector, the deal sent the picture to GD. GD authorized the replacement and sent the part to the dealership. The dealer service said it should take less than an hour. No appointment needed. More to come.
