From RV Travel.com Posted this in General Electrical instead of separate threads in Reflection 5ers and TT's and since it is an electrical issue.

Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling more than 22,000 model year 2016-2018 Reflection trailers. A wiring connector in the vehicle underbody may not be properly secured, allowing water intrusion into the wiring connector, possibly resulting in an electrical short circuit.

If water enters the wiring connector, it can cause a short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.

Grand Design will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and secure the wiring connectors up to prevent water intrusion, free of charge. This recall is expected to begin July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Grand Design’s customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design’s number for this recall is 910020.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).

Looks like the recall is for the SCPC Molex connectors that connect solid wire to the flexible cord for the slide outs.

Is that just "trailers"? Or does "trailers" also mean fifth wheels? Sorry if that's a dumb question.

Not a dumb question. I wondered too (for friends, and I’m just nosy). However, Gene’s link above spells it out (not til halfway down the page ). Seems it’s both 5ths and TTs. The VIN ranges, years are there.

Thank you. I checked, and even though our rig was manufactured during that time, our VIN isn't on the list.

Thanks for the link and information. I will probably open the belly up myself and take a look. Can’t imagine dealers getting this done soon and I’m not leaving my unit for 2 weeks for a zip tie and shoddy opening of the underbelly.

I've got 3 of these laying on the coroplast on the right hand side and at least 2 on left hand side that hang up a bit.
I'm not in the year range for the recall.
So I'll get the right hand side ones zip tied up.

Can anyone point out the location(s) of the connectors that need to be inspected? We have a 29RS and I am more that capable of dropping the belly and inspecting/tying up the wire. Just don't want to leave it at a dealer.

Thanks, Greg

You will normally find them just inside the frame where power goes to a slide. They connect the interior hard wire to the flexible wire going out through the frame. While you there check you coax connections and tie up the other wire mess.

There are actually 2 recalls going on They are both posted (US and Canada) on the GD web page under recalls. Not all units are on the VIN list posted by US. Mine was not. If you are on any list you will get a letter. Even if you dot I would tie mine up anyway.

Thanks much!! I'll be opening it up and looking once the rain is done.

I received a letter today for our old 2016, 308 BHTS that is involved in this recall. It explains it is on certain 2016-2019 Reflection fifth wheels and travel trailers manufactured between April 2, 2015 and October 31, 2018.

Two questions ... the recall states Model Years 2016-2018 however the build dates are 4/2/15 thru 10/31/18. My 5th wheel has a build date of 8/27/18 but is considered a 2019 Model Year. Conflicting statements ?
Also, what does "Not Sequential" when refering to the VIN numbers mean ?? I guess that means not all of the VIN numbers shown in the Group One Range are included ? Just wanted to be sure. I would fall into the Group One Range, but perhaps I am not included ... I will wait for my letter to see.

Anything built after April 1st is considered next years model. For example a build date of 5/2/20 is a 2021 model year unit.

Does anyone have a copy of what GD is sending to their dealers? It sounds like a simple fix that does not warrant me leaving the TT for a week to get this sorted.

Why would they have it for a week ? If I make an appointment for 10:00 AM August 21 ... what tells you that they would have it for a week ? Wouldn't they just have it for a few hours or a half day ?

Suppose to take less than an hour. I would hope you would not even meed to disconnect. They need to remove about a half dozen screws to get into the belly, and just secure the connectors off the belly and put the screws back in and seal.

We made an appointment for a specific date/time. And was told it would take about an hour. No dropping off rig for undertermined time.

Not Sequential

This is a guess but GD probably issues vin number as units are produced regardless of brand lines. In other words as an example Reflections TT and 5th wheels as the come down the line will not have a seperate vin number sequence specific to the Reflections line.

Hope this helps

Hi Folks,
I have a an ‘18 303. I removed three screws from the underbelly covering (just behind the rear wheels) on both the driver side and passenger side. I found three molex connectors on the driver side and one on the passenger side.
The three on the drivers side were on top and in a “rats nest” of wiring. I didn’t secure those because they seemed pretty secure where they are. The one on the passenger side- I zip tied to the top of a frame crossmember. It was not laying on the bottom covering; but, it might have been able to go there.
Also found two coax connectors in the “rats nest” which were loose.
Whole thing took about an hour. Hope this helps.
Shame I can’t trust my dealers shop.
