On a separate thread, a discussion came up about Grand Design owners attending Hamcation in Orlando, February 8-11, so I thought I'd start a new thread for folks to compare notes and maybe stage some meetups. It's always nice to meet people with similar rigs and see how there dealing with power, antennas, transceivers, RFI, and all the other aspects of doing ham radio in an RV.
Also, my RV group (FMCA) has its own amateur radio chapter. There will be 25 of us all parked together in the RV area around power pods 16-17-18. Most of those RVs are motorhomes, but there's an increasing number of trailers/5th-wheels. So, consider this an invitation to find us out in the RV area and come by and say hi. In fact, while our designated camping area is already full, I'm told there should be lots of available RV spots near our gathering spot, so feel free to park nearby and come by when you can. We'll have a large banner up so once you get to that area, we should be easy to find. If you're having problems finding us, just ask one of the volunteers where the FMCA group is. Also, our usual talk-in frequency is 146.550 MHz and it's almost always monitored. Even if you're just visiting for the day, feel free to come by.
I'm arriving on Thursday, and I'll be in my Imagine XLS 23LDE and my dark gray F-150 (with a vanity license plate with my call sign) parked next to it. Feel free to find me and I'd be happy to introduce you to the other guys.
Looking forward to hearing about others' plans.
