Full Time in our RV Home Base St Clair, MI.
Hello,
My name is Pat Presti and my hubby is Vince. We are from St. Clair, MI. We just got our Solitude 320X one week ago. We did not get a remote control for our fireplace or any manual or directions on how to operate it. Is there any way I can get this from the Manufacturer. We asked our dealer (General RV in Mt Clemens) about it and they said they don't all come with remotes give us your model#. Well, we don't have any way of knowing what the model is. Thank You in advance.
Pat and Vince

Welcome to the forum Pat and Vince and congratulations on your new Solitude. Give Customer Service a call at (574) 825-9679 and have your VIN handy and they should be able to help you.

I had a thread on this in the Reflection section I think. I was told by Dean from GD that they do not come with remotes yet everyone on this forum that responded has one. The manual was missing from our paperwork also and Dean sent it to me in PDF format. The manual shows my model number with a remote and I searched for these units and I could not find one without a remote. Funny huh? Please forward any information you recieve and I may post this in the Tech Section.

Hi pat, we also bought the from the same dealer. They told us the same thing about the remote, and we had one! I think they just did not want to mess with getting another to replace the one we thought did not work. It needed the battery in place correctly is all.

The remote exists so don't let them blow out off with a story.

Just bought a reflection 323bhs yesterday (10/31)from general rv in Wixom, MI and it had a fireplace remote...keep asking until they give you one

I also am looking the buy a new 320x, how do you like yours? have you had it out camping yet, and did you buy a extended warrentyfor it? also what do you pull it with? we are from downriver area(riverview) would love to hear from you bob

Hi Bob,
We absolutely love our 320X. Just got it on 10/22 and drove it to Houston TX. from MI. Had no problems pulling it at all. We have a 2005 Dodge Cummins 3500. Hubby said it pulled like a dream. Still organizing and reorganizing cupboards and cabinets. This is our 4th fifth wheel trailer and we finally got it right! We did buy the extended warranty just because its murphys law for us. If we didn't buy it then something is bound to happen. Good luck!

I know in our 337, you have to be pretty close or exact in order to get the remote to work properly. Once I turn ours on, I don't adjust it much - does a really nice job.

Power on/off is the red button at the "top" of the remote.
Once turned on, the heat button on the right, chooses between low, high, and temp set point.
The "F" button on the left adjusts the brightness of the "electric flame".
The lower button is a timer to shut off.
The remote has to be aligned fairly low and directly at the fireplace, to work.

Not to hijack this thread, but does anybody else's fireplace "flame" backlight come on, but not flicker when you are plugged into shore power? I tried the light switch on the fireplace and remote, but the backlight will not turn off. I can get it to go through the rest of the brightness settings.

Not sure about the flicker issue, Doug, but I know mine doesn't ever turn off. I just turn it down to 1 on the brightness setting.

how has general rv been at preping your unit?

Hi Bob, We bought from the Mt Clemens General and they were pretty thorough. Can't speak for any of the other Generals.
They also pulled the unit in the garage (it was January) for us to spend as much time inspecting the unit ourselves as we wanted. We went with a check list and spent a few hours there undisturbed. They checked in on us once and left us alone. Then they did their PDI and found one or two items we did not. The few items found were pretty minor.
The service department has been fairly quick getting the unit back when it went in for warranty work. But found they don't always listen when it comes to asking them to contact GD for certain fixes.

Doug our flame light goes down to one and does not run the heat without the light on. It would be nice to have the light off at night if any one is sleeping in the livingroom. It flickers on shore power and 12v.

thanks

about to buy a new solitude 320x, from gen. rv downriver. hope to see you out camping this spring & summer. thanks for your take on gen. rv bob

We got a new remote for our fireplace and it does not work either. I talked to Dean and he sent a replacement and it does not work either. Going to try and see if I can find any technical data on line for this thing.
