Group 31 Battery

This is the Lithium battery I installed and we do have the Ground Control 3.0 electric leveling system, two rack slides and a schwintek bedroom slide. I hadn't read any info on not using it with certain kind of RV systems.

Been using it now since last May and so far the slides and leveling system have worked fine, actually a little better than the lead acid battery we had - but then again it was 5 years old. But I read this posted info interesting. Time will tell I guess. I've never put an amp meter on any circuit to see what it is actually pulling initially with DC motor startup.
I also have a 100ah Li battery (Temgot brand with the BMS allowing a 100A max draw) and have the ground control 3.0 leveling system and 3 slides. Zero issues at all and, as stated above, it runs them better due to the slightly higher voltage than a regular LA battery.

@Riverbug So, you may be one of the few people owning a high-quality meter that can measure in-rush current. I checked my lower priced clamp meter, and it will not measure these.

added: To add a little cushion, I will be using my Lippert Ground Control and standard front jacks with both (not just one) 100Ah batteries to add a little cushion, but it still maybe a problem after considerable use.

Back to our originally scheduled program. (No worries on the hijack :))

I bought the 31M and a new battery box. An AGM is non-spillable but still requires venting. Gives off less gas though. We don't boondock and I just had my left knee replaced, so didn't want to get into a lot of work swapping batteries. Current battery was going to be 5 years old and has been completely discharged a few times when sitting at the dealership for repair work. Head South in a few weeks so didn't want the battery to fail during the trip. I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss something by going to a Group 31 that could be a problem.

Did you get the Interstate marine battery? Was the original a marine also?

Thanks for understanding on the hijack.:) My apology.

Original battery was a Group 27 Interstate Marine/RV from the dealer back in 2020. Replaced with the Group 31 AGM Interstate Marine/RV from Tractor Supply. TS had a Group 27/31 battery box that was larger than what was in the RV. The battery itself looks surprisingly similar to the Group 31 AGM Marine/RV Duralast battery that AutoZone sells.

@Captcolour With the capacity between old and new battery being similar but a bit better, your experience should be similar with the exception that you can't add water. This is a good and not so good thing, but overall, for most people it is a real positive in a number of ways. Considering battery went dead a few times and is still useable after near five years is impressive, which shows that you are taking good care of it--likely recharging it fully very soon after use and storing it well charged. This is way more important than concern for depth of discharge.

I can't think of anything that could be a problem but recommend using a charger with AGM setting. Enjoy the lower maintenance battery and hope knee recovery goes well!

added: I don't believe my PD converter has an AGM setting and it was fine on my deep cycle AGM GC2. My solar and stand alone chargers do so I used AGM settings.

Make sure your converter, or if you have solar controller does not use equalization, which is just for open cell regular lead acid battery.

AGM vs FLA is 14.4v vs 14.7v absorption voltage settings. Unlikely the stock charging system (unless you have solar) will ever get the battery to 14.4, let alone 14.7, so no better or worse than when he had a FLA battery.
