Gosh i hope everyone weathered the storm ok. Pictures I have seen, it was terrible south.

Here in Richmond Indiana we had very high winds, buckets of rain, lots of trees and limbs down and we have been without power now for 15 hours now.

Side note - Boy am I glad we upgraded to a lithium battery and I love the WiFi app as I can see exactly what the battery is doing. After 12 hours the battery only went down to 73% SOC but really we weren't using that much power. Right now we are running on genny and recharging the battery. Will be fully recharged in @ 1 hour 30 minutes.
Don't know how much longer power will be out. Have plenty of propane. Still raining off and on.

Hang in there, hoping all are fine.

Knoxville area had some localized flooding, but nothing major like what took place in upper E. TN and NC areas. So far THIS WEEK, we have 7" of rain here at the house and more moving in today from the "wrap-around" of Helene. Our Sept. average rainfall is normally in 2.9 to 3 inches for the month and we now have 9.03 inches for Sept.......so triple the amount of the average Sept. rainfall. Had some pretty gusty winds too in the area, and that of course was the culprit behind the power outages from downed trees and power lines. More average temperatures and sunshine on the way by midweek, next week.

Hope whoever was in the path made it through ok.
Our Fl park (Bradenton) flooded and it was deep enough that someone was on a jet ski to get family out. It receeded by the next morning but was just deep enough to cause some damage and windy enough to destroy a few lanais.

My brother is in Western SC in the foot hills and lucky for him he is up on a hill and has Generator.
They got 30.5 inches of rain ?? over the 2 days the storm passed them.

OMG......I simply cannot imagine that much rain in a two day period. Thank goodness he was up in the hills so to speak.

So did you guys get damage to your trailer or truck or did it mostly miss affecting you and Gary?

We weren't there, still in MI for just a few more weeks. So all we have on our spot right now is a cargo trailer and a topless (we remove the top b4 leaving) gazebo. It seems we are just barely high enough that we got flooding but not so deep it reached the bottom of the cargo trailer. The creek bed is fairly deep, it's right behind us and the so called lake is lower than us. But if the surge was much higher we might have lost my laundry room.. Then I'd of cried!

Hope none of you are in Asheville. From what is on the news, they don't even have cell service. Many roads are washed out, most are without power.

We stayed at Mama Gerties in July, which is about 5 miles from Asheville. That RV park is on a hillside. I wonder what damage they had. The area is called Swannanoa,NC right next to Asheville . I saw pictures of the road way that looked like a river flowing where we had driven. Feel sorry for people living there

I get a bit aggravated by the people posting, or reposting, photos that may not be factual. I've seen a photo of what was reported to be I-40 flooded, and dry. The photo that shows it dry looks to be very dated, which raises credibility issues IMO. And one photo of I-40 washed out was circulated, but reported to be questionable at one point, by the weather service and emergency services. Seems to me the last thing needed in a situation like this is more FUD.

I have two kids who live in Augusta, GA. They didn't get as much rain as other places, but the 85 MPH winds really tore things up. My son says they have been told to expect to be without power for 7 - 10 days. His work (window, door and sash manufacturing) is closed until further notice (I assume damage to the large buildings). Our DIL is a social worker at a women's residential rehab program. She can't even get to work because of downed trees and power lines and washed out roads. I'm amazed at their positive attitude and resilience. Our other daughter works at one of the large hopsitals there in Augusta (and only lives about a mile from the hospital). She's at work today so hasn't had time to respond to my text yet today. The hospital had done quite a bit of disaster/storm prep earlier int he week.

NCDOT website says that over 400 roads in NC are closed this morning. They also stated that basically, you should just consider the every road in Western NC is closed. Here is a screenshot of NCDOT travel conditions map at present time..1:23PM on Sat.

A few yeas ago when the Jersy shore got hit, i was still working and out of the Easton PA line garage. We worked in 79 mile an hour winds. At that point one is just running around cutting burning wires and things sparking, on fire off. Then when the storm stops, pick it all up.

When working in New Hampshire, it seemed like i went to Florida every other year, some times twice a year for hurricanes.

The old days.... I sure love retired now.

The Asheville area is prone to flooding. We've been there during some torrential fall rains while camping at Lk Powhattan which sits up just a little higher than town. We have witnessed the French Broad swell quickly and if they got the same 30 inches of rain my brother had ( less than an hour south) the area definitely got flooded.

Just last week we were in Waynesville (outside of Asheville) at a nice campsite right on a creek. Now we’re in Nashville where the remnants of this storm is parked overhead. Lots of rain but no flooding where we are. I think we dodged a bullet. Hard to imagine we’ll be in AZ in a few weeks!

I saw a photo on facebook a few minutes ago that said it was taken from I 40 looking down at another highway with the before and after that matches your description. Can’t be sure of anything on the internet these days.

Glad that it sounds like everyone is OK here. Daughter in Southern Pines said they received a lot of rain, but nothing like the NC/TN border. I'm not sure if I recall many hurricanes taking a left turn after hitting the gulf in my lifetime. Seems like most head northeast after landfall.

That's good to here, we are headed down to Knoxville area next, actually Heiskell / Rocky Top, Escapee's Raccoon Valley Oct 17th.

Glad to hear some are ok, people in those areas hit hard have a long road ahead of them. Some down in FL for the 3rd time.

Agree.
If you are talking about Facebook, It is useless for dependable news, it's for entertainment, imo.
