Hey!!!
George & Nancy from upstate NY looking for some advise.
We recently purchased our 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD LTZ CC DMAX and are now looking for an RV. We spent two days at the Hersey PA show and narrowed our search.
We were both impressed with the Montana 3160RL. NANCY LOVES IT !!!!
I was impressed with the entire GD Reflection line and after more research I'm all in.
1st tough choice 317RST or 337RLS??????
The outside TV on the 317 is pretty cool!!! Don't know about the split bathroom concept. (haven't seen this unit only pictures)
337 RLS is the layout we like best but no outside TV :( I could mount one in the pass through storage compartment????

How do I convince Nancy that the GD Reflection is the way to go???

I'm partial to the 337. We used to have a rig with the split bathroom and I didn't like it at all. I have heard of folks mounting a TV in the basement of the 337, but haven't seen one. Some of the new flat screens are so light weight, I'd think that you could even have a portable one so that you could move it where ever you liked while you're watching it.

We used to own a Keystone product, and their customer service was non-existent. Grand Design has the best customer service in the industry for mid-range towable products.

Compare the countertops, couches, storage space, fit & finish. Not to mention the customer service which we learned about later.
A Montana is not a Reflection. (We shopped these against each other before buying our Reflection).

George-first of all those married long enough, understand that you will not talk your wife into anything....but if she really likes the 3160 over a gdrv product, well tell her that you stil love her and good luck with her wrong decision !

Been married 40 years. Your response is too long winded. Just say "yes dear".

We love our 337RLS - just be careful of the loaded pin weight on a 2500HD. We bumped up very close to the rear axle limit on the truck after our initial load and had to do some "weight management." In retrospect, I wish I had opted for a 3500HD but couldn't afford the loss in trading in/selling an almost-new truck. We're just careful now about what we load in the basement, front closet and under the bed and we're fine.

Rob

Has she seen the Reflection? Looking at the floor plans it looks like the Reflection has more counter space and a larger pantry that is convenient to the cooking area. You can also get to the fridge with the slides in. Would you rather have windows on the street side (Montana) or curb side. I guess I'm biased, since I really like our Reflection.

We saw the 317 at the rally last year, and didn't like the split bath -- also the walk through had a header that didn't allow enough clearance for my 6'4" husband to walk through without hitting his head.

Have her look at some of the pictures here. Also agree, what does she like about the Montana?

I think I have made some Progress!!!! Nancy has done some research and I think she has come over to our side.
1. Better Business Bureau keystone 507 unresolved negative reports Grand Designs 2 reports 2 Revolved
2. Facebook Montana page denied access/must be an owner GD page welcomed/encouraged her

I'll answer a few questions
second chance "be careful of the pin weight" The payload for my truck is 3000lbs so that gives me a 1000 lbs leeway so I'm comfortable with that.
What are some things that she liked with the Montana..... Interior aesthetics/looks IE color/fabrics The "bed room" shelving/TV hamper/stool kitchen counter tops S/S appliances
Now a couple of things I noticed....6 point auto hydraulic leveling (does the GD Reflection have this??) Moyr ride pin box and suspension
full length couch... the slide with the outside entertainment came with a second awning... 4 entry steps
I have a few question
What is the MSPR for the 317 and the 337
What % off MSRP is considered a "good deal"
George

Welcome to the forum George and Nancy and good luck with your search for your new camper!

You can buy a stool for the island fairly inexpensive , she can even pick it out. I believe the 337 has the 6 point leveling. I'm sure a 337 owner will pop on and know for sure :)

Food for thought, the owners of GD left Keystone to break away from a company that lost focus on what customers wanted and more important, customer service and satisfaction. All 3 held key positions.

They are in the process now of building a large 3 million dollar complex just for PDI inspection and quality control. Not small change for a building that doesn't produce trailers.

I was eyeing the Montanas and Gary the Cardinals we did a 180 when we found Grand Design and took the chance on a new company after a little research
We've been in our 303 for 1 1/2 years and still are very happy with the choice.

We have the 303rls, pulling with 2500 duramax. We have put 14,000 mi on them since April. We got an average of 11-13 mi per gallon.
Grand Design stood by us when we had an issue. We've never had an RV company do that before. GD dealers/service depts take you whether you bought from them or not. Definitely not true for other brands. When in KC you sure don't want to be told to take it to where you purchased it for repairs. (In CA, for us)

I love our floor plan. It made living in close quarters doable for months at a time. Great counter space in kitchen. And a pantry! Wow!

We had a split bath once and loved it, but this one works for 2 pretty easily, especially since it has 2 entries. We seldom have issues.

Good luck on your decision.

Through, at least, the earlier 2016 models, none of the Reflections have auto-leveling. I have read on the forum that GD is starting to put auto-leveling on at the factory (probably as an option). The 337s are four-point systems - not six.

Hi, welcome to the forum. We've had our 337 Reflection for 1 1/2 years and Love it. We have mounted an outside tv in basement, very easy, electric and cable already there.
I feel for you having to convince the wife. We were supposed to buy ours a year later than we did, but when she saw the Reflection she wanted it NOW. Didn't have to twist my arm hard at all. Lol
Good luck with your decision.
PS. Just bought '15 3500 Chevy CC LB Dually LTZ Duramax. 3 local trips done, love it so far.

To buy a GD or not

We purchased our reflection over a year ago and use the outside tv all the time to watch football along side the fire. We have used it an average of two weeks every month from April to November and have not had a single issue with it! We love it and everyone that sees it is very impressed, you will not be sorry buying a Grand Design. Hope to see you at the next owners rally with your new unit and a smile ear to ear.

JMO but the Reflection isn't in the same league as the Montana. The Solitude 321RL would be a better choice if comparing with the Montana.
Montana has 8 lug 7000lb axles, way higher CCC, painted front cap. Montana has been the #1 selling 5th wheel for 14 years. I've been in both and the Montana has a higher level of finish. The tow floor plans aren't all that similar so it almost seems like the OP's wife likes the Montana layout better.
Kind of hard to compare one unit with a starting MSRP of around $60,000 and the other at $80,000.
