Hello to all from central Kansas. My wife and I are waiting to take delivery of our first ever trailer. Our local dealership has a Momentum 29g on order, and is expecting delivery within a month or so. We will almost definitely sign papers for it when it arrives. I am hoping to gain knowledge about Grand Design, and the RV experience in general. I have found that forums are an excellent way to obtain that information.

Welcome to the group. There is lots of experience and knowledge here. The members really helped me out when I started off.

I got a call from the salesman today. The 29g is now expected some time in July, and with a 10% price increase. He offered me a 31g that they had in stock that comes in below the new 29g price. I put a deposit down to hold it.

Congratulations on the 31g. Friends of ours in Florida have one. They load it up with some dirt bikes and go all over.

Whatcha gonna tow yours with?

For the time being, an F-150 5.0 liter.

Um, the tongue weight on the 31g is gonna be somewhere in the neighborhood of 1600-1700 lbs with a GVWR of 12,000. Just my humble opinion, but I don’t think your TV is capable of towing that trailer. I could be wrong (but don’t tell my wife I said that).

The UVW is 8975. Add another 900 for the Ultra. Around 10,900.
As for tongue weight, I have 2 extra leaf springs added for my car trailer, and a class 5 hitch. Screenshot_20210506-194614_Chrome.jpg

Have you accounted for the added weight for food, water, propane, batteries, clothes, you, any passengers in TV, whatever you want in the storage bay (chocks, leveling pads, patio mat, chairs, electrical cords, hoses, assorted tools/parts), that you will also be towing?

Hopefully we'll be seein' ya out there ... we're in the Eastern side of KS,
Congrats on the new rig (and avoiding the costly delay!!)

Hi....we also have a new 260rd on order. This will be our 1st 5th wheel and am a little nervous about towing it and getting into tight places. I hope to practice some in a large lot which will help some.

Welcome to the group...I'm also a new 5er owner, but I do find them easier to maneuver than a bumper pull. A good place to practice is a school parking lot on Sundays. They're pretty much totally empty so you have lots of room to play. Also ... bring along some of those soccer cones to use to mimic the sides of a parking space you're trying to back into. Last tip is just to relax.

Luke:
Pay close attention to the guys warning you about your TV.
Safety is the first order of business and you need to understand all
the in and outs of your TV abilities.
I am a member of the 3 truck club because I did not properly
educate myself.

Have Fun and stay safe, and welcome to the forum:

I found a used F-250 here in my town today, but it's the bad (6.0) engine, and ext cab, not 4 door.

Just to chime in....also a member of the 3 truck club. 21g, 1400 lb of motorcycles, I found my 1/2 ton Dodge (with xtra springs as well) lacking in the needed torque to get up big hills. Went to F350 super duty, v10 gas, good on the highway but still dropping speed on long hills, stressful to keep up to highway speed. Finally moved to Dodge 3500 with Cummins. Tows awesome but haven't gone on long trip yet, but hopefull! Just because the dealer tells you its half ton towable doesn't mean it will be an enjoyable tow.

I have a 29g and load my ultra classic in it. Your f150 will pull it on level, ground. But your tv is not big enough to safely handle,it. My dealer will not let a person pull out of parking lot if you do not have a safe tv. I sometimes think my Ram gas 2500 is not enough truck. Do not plan to tow a 31g with a f150.
