So here the deal, I'm in beautiful Yuma, AZ for the next few years not for vacation, but job related. Its heating up fast. Temps are 112-115 during the day. No shade where I'm parked. All 3 a/c's work their tail off. Inside gets up to 85 during the hottest part of the day a/c just run continuously. So you all kind of get the picture of the situation.

I'm trying to do anything to help keep the rig cooler. Yes, I keep the shades down during the day to keep the sun out. I do have a few ideas but wanted some input on them as well as tricks others done.

Taping reflectix to the outside of the a/c units, leaving the vents uncovered? Hoping that would make them run a little better. I have also read where people will do the same to the roof, but I have doubts on that being very effective.

My rig does have the dual pane (insulated) windows. They dont seem to get too hot. Good thing.

Looking for some ideas.

If you have black shades change them out to honeycomb pleated, lot cooler.
Modify ac return air (lots of videos)
Check air outlets and seal better

Already done the ac return mods. Air outlets are good. My shades are the stock. Blk on inside, reflective on window side.

Thank You

Place a insulated cover on the underside of the bathroom skylight, MaxxAir covers over the roof vents, door shade on door glass, toppers over slides are just a few ideas if you havent done them yet.

Weve also had issues with our slide located pantry interior getting hot. So I installed some cabinet fans to circulate cooler floor air up from the 1" bottom door gap thru to the upperside of the cabinet near our microwave. Works great at keeping the pantry cooler!

Very nice. I'm getting the covers for the fans. Going to look into one for the skylight. Door shade has been up. Already have slide toppers. I'm putting in awning shade extensions. to help.

Nice thing is I have good power quality. 118-122 on both legs. So that helps my power system.

I have seen a few RV slides with several layers of the bubble foil reflective insulation on the tops of slides , under the slide toppers

Good thing here in AZ is there are lots of mobile tint shops that do a great job and don't charge you an arm and a leg. Have them come out and put the best ceramic film they have on your windows. You don't have to go dark to get decent UV rejection.

So how’s it going out there? We’re scheduled to start our “winter” stay in Mesa, AZ in mid-September this year (due to other circumstances). I’m expecting it to still be hot by then but hopefully not crazy hot - I guess we’ll have to see about that. I appreciate the heat mitigation tips!

Sept in Mesa is still hot. Later in the month is better but it's still pretty hot.

If you're going to be there for 3 years, build a car port over the RV and get in the shade.
