I am looking at these hotspots that different manufactures have. How well do the ones without an external antenna work in an RV?

Anything I should look for with these devices.

And yes, all three that are offered are internal only.

We used a Verizon (Inseego) 8800L for years with good service. I purchased external antennas for it (the 8800L has ports for them) but found the antennas made little difference. Reception is very dependent on proximity to cell towers and any obstacles in between.

I've used a Verizon hotspot, and the TravlFi hotspot, and neither has an external antenna, and it doesn't seem to affect them. It might help if the reception is sketchy, but so far, not an issue.

I am using a hotspot from Calyx Institute. You pay an annual fee for unlimited data. The first year costs more because it includes the hotspot but after that the cost is reduced. I paid $700 for the first year and it will be $500.00 after that per year. This is their top of the line offering. There are other options with a lesser cost.
Breakdown of the monthly cost (2nd year) is less than 42.00 per month for unlimited data. It runs on T mobile network and if you i use it for business some of it can be written off. Check out their website for more info.

Question - since Calyx uses T-Mobile, does it have the same deprioritization & speed limits as the other T-mobile business data plans?

DW and started out with the Verizon 8800 Hotspot and later canceled because of expense utilizing just phone hotspot. My use is only for email and tv streaming, also, use an external cell phone booster & antenna. Most of our travel area has been southern and Midwestern areas and my phone hotspot has served me well. Try using your phone hotspot before making investments in extra devices.

Honestly I am not sure. I have not had any issues and don't feel throttled. I would check on the Calyx website and maybe reach out to them if you don't find what you are looking for
