How are your slide toppers attached? Factory units but dealer installed.

Just picked up a brand new Solitude and noticed the dealer installed toppers look like they are attached to the slides with some type of putty. No screws nothing. Even though the screw holes are plain to see in the brackets they're just stuck on. Anybody else have them installed this way? They appear to work but I'm sure over time with age they may detach and I don't want to deal with it on the road.

I haven't installed mine yet because we haven't taken delivery of our camper yet, but based on the installation video I've watched a few times, that sounds right because the outer bracket slides onto a bracket that is screwed to the slide out.

They have to be screwed somewhere. The "putty" is butyl tape to seal the screw holes.

If it were just stuck on, it would pull right off when you open the slides.

could you please post a few pictures showing what your trying to explain. it will help us better understand the issue.

The topper on my kitchen slide looks like this. There is a bracket mounted/screwed to the slide. They use butyl tape behind that bracket to prevent leaks. That is the 'putty' you are seeing. Then another bracket is slid into that bracket. Then the slide goes into the top bracket and and screws/bolts are tightened down on the topper roller tenon. The second bracket they put on does have a couple of holes where it appears screws should go but that are not needed if using the bracket on bracket method. They're screwed in for sure. Sounds like you may have the low profile bracket from one of the latest suppliers that has an insert that covers the screw heads. Saw them on a Momentum a couple weeks back.

Took a closer look and they are in fact screwed in. Looks like they used small black screws for the attachment points and they're not easy to see from the ground. I was a little concerned initially.
