How to get wires out of airxcel digital thermostat

What's the trick to getting the wires out of the push connects on an airxcel digital thermostat without breaking them?

If I'm not mistaken, those wire are in the terminals with a spring loaded clip and the little tab on each terminal must be released, then the wire will come right out. You probably will need a very small screwdriver....think jeweler's type small.

There is a special tool made to remove these. An electronics parts house would have one.
