Hello,

Well, after a quick thaw, the Toilet flushes again, but the water just keeps coming after the flush

...Is this normal under these circumstances?

I'm afraid it might overflow. Is there not a shut-off valve or overflow outlet?

No there is no shut off in the bathroom. You would have to go outside to shut off the water if your on city water. You could use the fresh water tank then you could turn the water switch off in the panel. Our pedal is sticky and we are going to replace the seal. For now we are letting the pedal snap back by side stepping off the pedal. That"s been getting it to stop running. We will be replacing the toilet soon and when we do there will be a shut off valve in the bathroom when we are done.

I changed out toilets and that is a great time to make this change. Shark Bite makes a water supply line with the shutoff built in. I needed a new line to get everything lined up anyway.

WHAT!!!

There are no shutoff valves at the toilet, kitchen and bath water lines. Even the cheaper trailer I had before this one had water shutoff valves.

Same happened to me but not sure the cause. Your water supply valve at the toilet has gone bad. It’s an easy fix with a new valve off Amazon. I took that time to also install a shutoff at the toilet. Maybe a 30 minute job all around.

My toilet keeps running as well. Is the replacement kit the same for all models? If not, how do I find the kit I need?

That works for a while, till it breaks. We had to snap the pedal from the day we bought it to ensure that the seal around the ball actually sealed. Then it broke about 4 years in. Had to replace the whole toilet as we were traveling and the only RV place open didn't have the parts, only a whole toilet.

Toilets running can be real pain in the butt. It's not as bad as when my wife hollered for me to hurry and come upstairs because the toilet started smoking when she put cleaner in it. I jumped from my recliner and rushed upstairs to find this....... Women!!

Yup there are no water shut off valves anywhere on the water lines unless you install them yourself.
Our toilet foot pedal sticks open once in a while, unless you let it snapback. I just use my toe and lift up on the pedal. Just make sure the water stops running into the toilet once you use the foot pedal.

YES - if the water valve actuated by the foot pedal sticks open just a little and lets the water trickle, eventually the black tank- WILL - fill up and the toilet bowl - WILL- run over inside the RV ! You will have a giant toilet water mess in the bathroom and down into the interior of the RV like storage compartments.

When you have visitors that are not familiar with RVs, It might be a good idea to maybe post a small instruction post-it-note sticker on the toilet lid, or tell visitors to your RV how to use the RV toilet. You would think it's a no brainer, but ask me how I know !

Always, Always, Always - when leaving the RV for an extended time - shut off the water supply to the RV !
If you have a pex line, hose, pex connector, faucet, whatever start leaking while you're gone, you will have a mess to clean up! Also if you have a tank type water heater consider shutting off power/propane to the water heater. If it empties while you're gone, the heating element will burn up.

I need to take the pedal off and get in there and use plumbing grease on the water valve and flapper valve. Actually I need to change the flapper seal also.

Be careful how to reattach the foot pedal ! Make sure the ear tabs on the water valve and flapper valve line up correctly with the foot pedal indentations. If they are off you could snap off the valve ears that go into the foot pedal the first time you use it.
