How to switch to cable?

Hi all. We aren't big TV watchers and have usually just used the antenna and picked up what few channels we can, or we stream Hulu if we have internet. We are staying at a casino for a music event this weekend. They have terrible internet and few local channels over the air, but they do provide cable. We have never tried cable before. We haven't been able to get our TV to find any channels. On the outside in our storage area by our Nautilus system we have five connections. One is marked cable so that is what we connected to. On the inside, within a cabinet next to the tv, we have a cable wire and two connections. We tried moving the cable to the second connection and didn't have any more luck. Any thoughts?

Please see the attched pics.

Normally you would connect the park cable to you connection labeled cable in the wet bay, turn off the antenna signal booster which is a little red or green light on the coax panel behind the TV, then change your television setting to cable and scan for channels.

Thank you for the response. We have looked around the TV and nearby cabinets and we are unable to find a button for a signal booster. There is no buttun on the coax plate, just a little red light

Look some more. The button is there. Most likely on the back side of the connector where it is out of sight. I ended up mounting mine upside down just to get to the button easier.

The light has to be off; that's what indicates that you have switched to cable.

Shouldn't there be a dedicated run of coax for cable/sat only? Normally the amplifier is in the OTA antenna coax cable, having no affect on the coax run for cable reception. Should not matter if amp is on or off.

The button is usually very small, like lees than 1/4 inch. it is a round push button and is almost always on the same plate as the light.

The booster also works like an A/B switch. They have 2 inputs with one being the antenna and the other being the park cable input. The switch changes between them and turns the booster on or off for the antenna signal.

Looking at the picture you included I'd guess it's to the right of where the cable is plugged into. (first picture)

There is a dedicated coax from SAT in to SAT port near main TV.

COAX IN runs direct to the antenna/coax switch (the box with red light and switch).

The antenna coax runs directly to the same switch.

Coming out of the switch a coax runs to a splitter to various TV ports including the one the main TV is connected to (and most likely to the bedroom TV too).

This is a very simple diagram:

Thanks all. You are correct. The button was on the other side of the cable connector, out of sight. I turned it off (light off), then scanned switched my input to cable, and searched for channels. It still didn't find any. We ended up going back to over the air for the rest of the weekend. We will have to play with it more the next time we are at a place with cable.

The next thing to try is the different connectors in the wet bay. Some have reported the connector labeled SAT is actually the CABLE.

Our "light button", on our other RV (not Grand Design) is located behind our secondary tv in the bedroom. There is also a light near our secondary tv, in the outdoor kitchen, in our Grand Design.
