Onan will one day require serious service probably sooner than later. I made enclosure into easily removed 2 piece. Bottom was removed also ( glued with silicone ) all sealing was replaced with easy off sealing strips. I would hate to try and do this one on the road or let mobile tech butcher it.



This shows new battery box with 2 Trojan T-105 golf cart batteries.

The cure for black and grey tanks not closing. Causing nasty and embarrassing moments when you remove cover to sewer line.

I like the idea of adding a gate valve to the drain tube.
I complained to the dealer about "taking a bath" every time I removed the cap.
They said, in so many words, it's normal, live with it.
They blamed the problem on debris getting in the greywater and blackwater gate valves and allowing them to leak.
I have read a lot of noise not only on this forum, but other forums that this is a common complaint about the "stuff" already in the tube with the valves closed when the cap is removed.
GD could set themselves apart from other manufacturers by coming up with a different valve that actually worked all the time.
Hmmmm, novel idea.

Did you buy the two-piece enclosure, have it custom made, or do it yourself? I love the concept! I will be copying that for my unit. I hate having crap in the way when trying to service, and sure don't want to pull the genie.

I too wish my enclosure were easier to get out or in 2 pieces like yours. I may have to do something about that down the road. If I need to have work done on the front legs I will need to take the whole thing apart and that does not sound like fun Good idea scott.

Also on board with the extra gate valve. Dumped the black tank which I thought was empty(nothing coming out). Drove 250 miles and went to hook up waste hose, took off the cap and I bet a gallon of "stuff" came out the pipe. Very embarassing and not at all healthy. Have a gate valve on order right now. Funny thing is that our old 2005 Cougar never had this issue. When the gate valves were closed after emptying, never got a "bath" when I removed the cap at our next stop.

I did the same thing with my dump valve... ya never know what might be lurking behind the cap without it. Peace of mind if nothing else.

The gen set enclosure is factory. I removed it and cut in half, added aluminum angle and sealing strips. Enclosure on mine makes it very difficult to reach anything in the front compartment as far as adding accessories or maintenance.
It is not a easy task if you want to reuse it as it it glued to floor with silicone take your time and it can be done.
It will have to be pulled in the event of any serious service. I would rather bite the bullet now while I have it in the shop and have access to all tools and equipment.
I would not want myself, Camping World or some mobile tech trying to do this out in the field or campground. End result would not be pretty or safe.
Glad some of you got something out of post. I have a few more pictures if it would help anyone out.

Interesting, have the same problem with my 313 TT, one which I never had before with a Passport. I like the extra gate valve and will incorporate that ASAP! Thanks!

I'm thinking that the gate valve cable must have enough (or maybe not enough) tension on the valve that it forces the valve to slide open when travelling. Additionally, the tank must not have enough slope/angle on it to completly empty when we dump. Otherwise why would the tank appear empty but yet after travelling some distance and then removing the cap, a stream of stuff comes pouring out.

I thought I took pictures of backside while I was making it but can not find them now. The backside has no room for any type or internal or external reinforcement. I ended up making a sandwich type seal/support made out of 2 pieces of 3 inch by 1/8 flat bar. After painting I pushed a 1/8 inch rope seal in it to make it as least as air tight as factory.
