In need of comfy bed

We tried a number of the same things as listed by others and finally bought a mattress from IKEA that is very firm and we have slept like babies ever since. The mattress is not expensive and it comes rolled up so it is easy to get into the RV. The model name is MORGEDAL, and I believe is extra firm. If you like a soft mattress this model is not for you, but we have found it perfect for us.

Wife ordered a Premier RV king 10" memory foam 70x80 which is close to the factory junker size. A little firm being new but a lot more comfortable then the factory one was. Came in a box and popped out right into place. Close to 500 bucks delivered off of Amazon.

what size Sleep Number did ya'll put in for an RV King bed? We are waiting for the sticks&bricks to sell before we order our solitude. We will get the king bed upgrade, but need to know the dimensions so we can also plan for what mattress to replace the original with, cuz I have never met an RV bed I could sleep on . . . .

X2^^. Adding toppers is just stacking money on top of a crappy mattress. We replaced ours with a Tuft & Needle and absolutely love it. Others have done everything from Sleep Number mattresses to "you name it."

Rob

I went to the Tuft & Needle website, did not see an "RV Queen" or any RV sized mattress, did you use a standard size or modify or did Tuft modify for you ? Thanks, Rich

You don't say what type of RV you have, but the queen beds in the Grand Design fifth wheels are standard size queens - 60 x 80. Nothing special about them.

The best $319 I had ever spent. We went with the AmazonBasics Cooling Gel Memory foam in 12" Queen for our 311BHS. My wife... well.... yesterday was Sunday. She went to bed at 9PM and woke 11AM! I have to use a pry bar to get out of that bed! I have 3 bulged disks in my back and typically do not sleep well or long, but this is the best sleeping mattress I've ever had. I can not recommend it enough. Like all others, it comes vacuum packed in a box, I removed to junk OEM mattress and took this in onto the bed platform, opened the box and let it expand. It took 3 days to fully firm up, the first noight I was VERY skeptical of it. After it getting to night 2, it was way better. Since then we have both fallen in love with it! I have an $1800 mem foam at the house that now I am thinking of replacing with one of these.

Have had a 4" latex topper on the original mattress since the day we brought the rig home. It was okay, but woke up on Day 3 of a just completed 3-week trip and barely could get out of bed due to lower back pain. Home now and searching for a new mattress. Seems the original mattress has decided to cave under the pressure and no topper can possibly save it. I've had a Sleep Number bed in the past and it didn't work well for us. We have a 100% natural latex mattress in our house and love it, but they are HEAVY.

Considering the Molecule since its on sale at the Costco. Anyone try a Molecule? https://www.costco.com/molecule-1-air-engineered-12%22-memory-foam-queen-mattress.product.100502477.html

We got the Zinus on Amazon. 10in, best investment. I'm usually not picky when it comes to mattresses but the one that came with our tight is just horrible. After a 3 day weekend my back was soar for 2 weeks.

We have a TempurPedic Cloud at home, and a Nectar memory foam mattress in the RV. The Nectar is slightly firmer, but it's very comfortable and my back does NOT hurt after sleeping on it. For the price and the fact that it has a 365 day trial period, it's a slam dunk. Mine came with 2 free memory foam pillows as well.

Just added a 10" RV king memory foam a couple of months ago. Came in a box; simply to get through the door. Sleeps great; hate I waited so long.

The existing struts can't hold the bed up with out my help; shipping weight on mattress was 90 lbs. I've ordered heavy duty struts; yet to be installed.

Hi Lynda:

My wife and I got pretty tired of the original mattress too and got a gel topper. Try as we might, we could never get our trailer level enough to keep the topper from sliding one direction or another a bit over night. It also still wasn't comfortable enough. We got a Classic Brands CoolGel Ventilated Gel Memory Foam 8-Inch Mattress, Short Queen on Amazon Prime. We really like it and they have several sizes. It might be just a tiny bit firm, but, way, way better and only a little over $200. No more rolling around all night trying to get comfortable.

I really dont get what all the fuss is about with the original mattress. It's so comfy that we bought 3 for the sticks and brick.

Lol, after our first trip, this was our first mod. We went with the Zinus 8in. Couple of hundred on Amazon. Stumble on it when we did a search for the lightest mattress. Its really comfy.

We also put a Sleep Number in and its amazing and since it is air, it probably weighs less than the brick thing that comes stock!

We had Costco ship us the Comfort Tech 10" Serene Medium Foam RV Mattress, RV King.
Excellent mattress, highly recommended. We have the queen size in our truck camper at home as well, so we knew we'd like this king to replace the GD torture mattress.
