Initial quality of 2024 Reflection 5th Wheel

I understand but even if it's 3/4" off one Jack is taking more weight until it auto/levels. Not to mention the twist of the lippert frame.

I broke the transmission bar on an old school 5er landing jack system once due to unequal left/right height in the first year of ownership. I assume it was due to the fact that one jack carried more than its share of the weight.

The good thing about the drop front jacks feature on ground control 3 is it sets each front jack separately (automatically) before raising the rig off the hitch.

I like that feature considering a new front GC3 jack is orders of magnitude more cost than the old school landing gear transmission bar.

I don’t understand the issue

Are you worried about uneven side to side ground and the front jacks are not level???

I would simple shim the one not on the ground with boards or legos

Yes, using legos, shims, pins on the jack extensions can get you within an inch of both jacks hitting the ground at the same time. Is that good enough? My understanding is that GC3 removed the DROP FRONT JACKS function starting in 2020 or 2021 so it has been fielded for some time. One would think if it was a problem it would be all over the forum...I don't believe it is.

A friend with a 2021 341RDS had one of his front GC3 jacks fail in December. He cut his trip short and was 2 days from home and could not get it fixed (thanks to extended warranty...). At home he had to leave his truck connected to the trailer for a week until he was able to get an appointment to get it replaced. (I would have used cribbing and hydraulic jack to lift it off but he decided not to at home)

His GC3 does not have "DROP FRONT JACKS" either. I just asked him about his set up method: his reply: I set them within an half an inch, they typically hit the ground at the same time! That seems pretty reasonable to me.

I don't do any "shimming". It is real simple, with the electric 3.0 system you bring down the legs by pressing FRONT until the first one touches. Let's say the LEFT touches first. You then hit the RIGHT button until the right leg comes down and touches. Then proceed pressing FRONT until the pin weight is off the truck hitch.
Unhitch and pull out. Then hit Auto Level.

We purchased a new 2024 337RLS last August. Have about 4,000 miles and 80 camping days on it. We found the quality to be about the same as our last Grand Design fifth wheel. A few issues but nothing worth discussion except the A/C units. The thermostat has to be set at 60 degrees in order to get the A/C to cool. Evidently they put the temp sensors in the A/C return duct and it reads cooler than the actual temp in the fifth wheel. GD say's Lippert is working on a fix? Have not heard anything yet. We are very happy with our fifth wheel! Travel safe.

I just scroll down to the "Lower front legs" option and press enter, then manually move it more to lift it off the hitch. After that Auto Level is your friend!

Couple of things I see wrong with your statements......there are no hydraulics on a Reflection.

The selling dealer installs the battery, not GD.

The selling dealer is required to do a PDI on the unit to administer the warranty. If your selling dealer didn't find the water issue, shame on them.

Your recliners- again, dealer should have done a pdi and found it before you took possession of it.

Compass Connect is very finicky with Iphones. Android based phones work fine. it is Lippert programming, used across many manufacturers.

I'm not going to go through each of your other issues, and yes, should everything have been perfect from the start, yes. But the first test of any unit is the delivery distance to the dealership. For us, it is almost 700 miles. Things happen, which is why it is very important to have a good selling dealer do what they are supposed to.
PDI is a peeve of mine and others I'm sure. All a PDI is : removing styrofoam protection from furniture and fixtures, decal removal from microwave and such, installing a battery and propane tanks. If any of us think that PDI includes testing the water system and running the fridge on propane/electric/solar, checking the water heater and holding tanks........the we're all misguided.

Sorry my rant.

Maybe your dealer, but not here.....

It is a minimum of 4 hour intensive systems check. Yes, water checked, a/c has to be in a certain range, etc.

I've never seen any packing material around furniture or fixtures,(there is a plastic bag on the mattress) and I inspect every unit coming onto our lot at time of delivery.

You missed the gist of my post. What you do is fine & the norm on level ground.

I got the gist of your post. Actually, I missed the post (#13) about Lippert removing the "Lower Front Jacks" option from the programming. I never said what you do is incorrect or anything, and given the programming issue, I believe it's the only option available.

I think you have a poor dealer in Oshawa. Or at least had a poor experience with them. We bought our trailer from a place called Four Season's in Virden MB. When we went to pick it up the chap 'showing' us the trailer we bought claimed they went through everything, tested everything and if we could find anything that didn't work as it should he would be surprised, but point it out and they would fix it before we drove off the lot. He demonstrated the GC 3.0 operation, then insisted I operate it (to make sure I was listening I think). Then how to operate it with my phone. I had asked the dealer to start the fridge on propane 12 hours prior to our arrival. They did and it was cold. Showed me the slide manual overrides, dump valves etc. After he was done he said there is no rush for us to drive away, If you want to stay all day checking it, be my guest. I spent a little while but couldn't find anything inoperable or broken or missing. After we were happy the trailer was as it should be we went and finished the financials and they gave us a certificate for emergency service good for one year. If the trailer has any warrantable issue within 500 miles of the dealership they will send a truck that will come out and fix it or drag it back to the dealer for more extensive repairs. I think they were pretty confident they checked over the trailer thoroughly.
Did they do a four hour PDI? I can't prove it, but I believe they did.

Good to hear that there are actually dealers out there that provide an indepth PDI.
I have a love/hate relationship with dealer. They've been fine for some warrenty issues and complety fell down on others.......one being the PDI.

I think a lot do fall down on the PDI, but before I buy I research the dealer as well. Just so I know what to expect out of them. The local GD dealer is mediocre at best. I had to travel 12 hours east of me to buy...for the good rep...and they were $5k cheaper...OK...it was mostly the money.

12 hours east? Layzee Acres in Orillia?

It has been a year since I started this thread. I wanted to give an update on the kitchen sink drainage issue. The drain pipe was installed incorrectly at the factory. The pipe was crushed between the floor and a steel support beam(see pictures). The local dealer repaired the problem after guidance from GD. This was a warranty repair.

We took our 2024 337RLS to the "local" dealer in November to address our punch list before the 1 year warranty expired in January. This dealer is not where we purchased the trailer from but they are the closest GD dealer to our home.
The punch list was:
1. Slide awning detached from roller. (Dealer replaced awning fabric under warranty)
2. Pocket door on bathroom was off its track and would not close. (actually the track had come loose inside the wall. (Dealer repaired door under warranty)
3. Indoor sunshade was ripped. (Dealer replaced sunshade under warranty)
4. Compass connect did not sync with iphone. It was not broadcasting an SSID. (Dealer called Lippert while I was there and walked through the problem. Had to manually disconnect and reset the remote controller which was behind the wall in the basement). Lippert technical support was very helpful and knowledgeable.
5. Right hinge on oven door would catch when opened and closed. (Dealer corrected the issue under warranty)
6. edging in basement was ripped. (Dealer replaced the shelf and edging under warranty)
7. Left tail light did not work consistently. (Dealer found loose wire and repaired it under warranty)
8. chip and crack in the floor of the shower. This was not repaired. I have done a repair with epoxy puddy during our first 2025 trip.

While almost alI items were addressed I will complain that the dealership had my 5th wheel for the entire Winter (over 4 months) and returned it to me dirty and with a dead battery. They did not charge me for the winterization they did. Nonetheless, I feel that a free wash should be part of the service.

We are on our first trip for 2025. We are staying 2 weeks at Gulf State Park in Alabama and so far so good. We have a dry trip scheduled for Elkmont in the Smokeys to see the synchronized fire flies in 3 weeks. A 2 month trip to San Diego in October. We hope year 2 in our 337RLS is problem free or at least less problematic than year 1.

I thought I would start a thread about my experience with the initial quality of my 2024 337RLS fifth wheel. This is my 3rd trailer over 12 years. This is my second Grand Design (first was 2017 Imagine 2970RL) and this is our first Fifth Wheel.

The worst problem on the first trip was water in the underbelly. As we were hooking up to leave, I noticed water leaking from the area where the red/blue drains extend out of the undercover. I removed 3-4 screws from the undercover to let the dozens of gallons of water escape. The GD dealer who worked the warranty claim told me that the pipe between the kitchen gray tank and the evacuation/dump line was not long enough and not fully connected. He stated that the factory used plumber's putty to make up the distance. GD paid for the repair, but would not agree to replace the undercover which I felt was damaged and stretched from all the water. I did not escalate that request to GD. The other problems from the first trip were: The trailer's battery is not strong enough to run the hydraulic lifts or extend the slides. I need generator power or grid power to open/close slides and lift/lower the trailer. GD states that the dealership has responsibility for the battery. The third problem was with prongs on the plug for one of the recliners . The prongs were broken. GD sent me a replacement plug. The fourth problem was an inability to get compass connect app on my iphone to sync with the camper. In summary, the first trip was lovely and with the exception of the gray tank leaking, the other problems were fairly minor. Nonetheless, I have to say that I was very glad the water problem was a gray tank and not the black tank.

We are not on trip #2 and here is the list so far. 1. Trash can drawer came off track due to screws coming out of the drawers. I have fixed this with longer screws. 2. LED light on the awning did not stay on when one awning is closed and we were on generator power. This seems to be a sporadic problem as it has not reproduced using grid power. 3. The bath room door (pocket door) appears to be off the track for one roller as it not sitting even and is very difficult to open/close. 4. Air Conditioner condensation is running down the side of the camper instead of channeling to the gutters and drip spouts. Not a big deal but will eventually stain the side of the camper if not fixed. 5. Front door does not close easily. It scrapes on the latch plate. This causes us to either slam the door or use two hands to close the door while pulling on the handle to reduce the friction against the striker plate. 6. The kitchen sink drains VERY SLOWLY. Yes this is the same kitchen sink with the gray tank problem. I assume the fix for the tank has somehow effected the pipe coming from the sink. Plunging does not help, I am going to go get a snake and may take off the trap under the sink to check it. 7. The hot water is not consistent. My wife got scalded taking a shower as the temperature increased quickly and unexpectedly. The tankless water heater seems to not hold the water temp consistently. We are being very careful taking showers.

Let me say that I realize there is a lot of moving parts to a fifth wheel. I know that every time we pull our camper it is experiencing an earthquake of shaking and bounces. Also, we are GD fans given that this is our second GD camper. But my wife and I feel that we are experiencing more problems than we should. We hope once we get these fixed, it will be problem free camping for the next few years.

I am interested in others experience with the initial quality of 2024 GD products.

addendum to original post...the list of second trip issues continues to grow. The awning fabric on the second awning (slide awning) is detaching from the roller.
