Jaboni solar controller/bluetooth module issues

Howdy,

I've been dealing with so many issues with our 2022 398M since purchasing in May of the same year. This most recent problem is regarding the Jaboni SC-30A-MPPT controller and new BT-2 Bluetooth module that is supposed to connect to the system via a smartphone app. I've been working with GDRV Consumer Relations for almost two years now. They've extended the warranty on the trailer until September of this year in good faith. We've had so many issues with our dealership that we had to tell the Consumer Relations Manager (CRM) that we no longer wanted them to perform ANY further warranty work! The CRM was very sympathetic and sent a replacement controller and Bluetooth Module that I could install myself.

Got the solar controller and BT Module several weeks later. It looks like the old Jaboni controller but, the name is Future Solutions. I unboxed, read the installation instructions and installed. Found out that their smart phone app is called FutureLink so, I had to download that. When I talked to the GDRV online tech guy (Matt?) a couple of weeks earlier, he told me that the app I wanted to install was called Solar Mate II. This app never worked even with the old Jaboni controller. Unfortunately, the FutureLink app connected to the new controller but only for a few minutes before erroring out and disconnecting from the controller due to an error. The error message on my phone was "serial data command stack maximum exceeded. Disconnecting from device".

At this point, I'm not even sure that our dealership repair facility even wired the solar panels, batteries and other related devices correctly. I also find it hard to believe that I would have two bad controllers and/or bluetooth modules. I suspect deeper wiring issues.

Would anyone be familiar with the Jaboni and/or Future Solutions system and perhaps be able to provide any insight?

The LED array lights appear to be working correctly according to the manual so I'm just scratching my head at this point.

Sounds very frustrating. You say: "At this point, I'm not even sure that our dealership repair facility even wired the solar panels, batteries and other related devices correctly." Having been in the same place, probably your best bet is to get a good multi-meter and check things out yourself. And it may be quicker (and in the end cheaper) to ditch the Future Solutions equipment and install something more reliable like Victron or Renogy.
 
Do you have android phones? If so, there is a known problem with the last year update to the OS and compatibility with the FSI app. Ours worked well (Solar Mate never did) up until the OS update on the phones. Oddly, after the OS update, Solar Mate started to work really well. FSI acknowledged the problem and sent a compatible BT module. Below is the thread I started and an email I received from FSI below - you might want to touch base with Alex - he's been very helpful to me.

Thanks for the additional information, shortly after I emailed you back, our developer emailed me back with some results that indicate certain modules are not working with specific galaxy phones. I am in the process of testing modules as soon as I can get my hands on a Galaxy device. He indicated that the fix for this would be replacing the module, so as soon as I can verify a good module I will send it out to you. I have an old shipping address I used to previously replace a solar controller for you, can you please send me an updated shipping address for when I am able to send out the new module?
