I'd like to throw Jasper NP into our trip this coming summer. We're thinking early august , either before or after our visit to Glacier NP.
Have any of you been there and is 10 nights enough or to much?? It looks soo beautiful I can't imagine it being to much time.

I have been to that area several times over the years. One of my favorite areas to visit. 7-10 days would be good. Whistlers Campground in Jasper NP is the only one, I think, with full hookups. Make your reservations as soon as you can (they may not open reservations until April).

Have you been to Glacier before? You cannot take your trailer over the going to the sun highway. Many just take the "buses" for that trip.

Marcy - We made a visit to the Jasper area in July this year. Loved it. Highly recommended. 10 days sound good, especially if you are doing it on your own. We did not take the RV. Instead, we flew to Calgary and joined a 9-day escorted bus tour of Glacier NP, Banff, and Jasper. We were much more impressed with the Canadian Rockies than Glacier NP. Most of the glaciers are gone there from what I could tell. The Icefields Parkway up to Jasper had dozens visible from the hwy. You can see our itinerary at the following link: http://www.caravan.com/tour/canada-rockies
That will give you a good start on planning.

Thanks for the replies. Robert and Shelia, we've never been to Glacier but know about not taking the trailer to the going to the sun road, thanks for the heads up anyhow.
Sometimes it's a challenge trying to find out if a safe trailer route. Right now I'm hoping to get the same lakeside campsite
we had reserved for last years trip that was canceled on Flathead lake (West Shore State Park Campground) near Kalispell.

Ken, great link for ideas of how to plan our days. Thanks!

Time to get last years mapped out trip and do some re-routing. We'll be adding a few stops now that the time frame has changed.

Marcy & Gary,

The west side of Flathead Lake is a great place to camp.

For everyone: Do not forget to take bear spray with you. I recommend one for the trailer, one for the pickup and another one that goes with you everywhere when in the mountains.

11 killed by bears in Glacier, 6 in Yellowstone and 3 in Jasper Natl. Park. I know, more killed by falls in Glacier than by bears.

awww, and I was looking forward to buying 3 ;) We know the bear rules. Haven't camped with Grizzlies yet but have had some black bears wander through our camp site.
We learned they don't like free standing solar panels. They knocked it over and busted it to pieces while we laid in bed snickering because we thought they were looking in the empty garbage can
near the camp road
