I carry a 2TB USB portable hard drive that contains my music and video library for when WIFI/Cell is unavailable. When I connect it to the Jensen it displays Loading then after a few minutes displays Stop or Stopped ( can't remember for sure} and will do nothing until the drive is unplugged. I tried it with a smaller thumb drive and it worked fine. As the portable drive works fine elsewhere I'm thinking the Jensen can't handle a drive of that size. Can anyone confirm what the maximum size the Jensen can use?

Thanks for any help?

If the 2 TB drive has a power input try powering it that way. Sometimes the USB doesn't supply enough power for spinning drives. That could explain why the thumb drive worked and the 2 TB spinning drive won't.

Furrion tech support claims theirs won't handle anything more than a 16GB drive. Older systems often can't handle the latest tech.

As RickLight said, most of these units won't support a drive (usually a memory stick/thumb drive) larger than 16G:cool:. The manual for a Jensen unit states that the USB port supplies 1 amp of power, so that's probably not the issue.

If you have the JWM41...

Unfortunately, it does not give a lot of detail. :(

Thanks for all the responses and my regrets for asking a question that was clearly in the documentation. To many files in to many folders.
Thanks again.

I tried Western Digital, 500gb, get message, cannot load, after a month i tried a Toshiba 1TB, soonas i plugged it in, BANG! it worked like a convict on a chain gang. Change your hard drives, I bet it works.
Good Luck.

Very true... sometimes certain drives are not compatible. See it alot in external drive usage.

"External hard drives might not be compatible with certain computers due to factors like file system formatting (not matching the operating system), outdated drivers on the computer, incompatible USB connections, power supply issues, or simply because the drive is designed specifically for a different platform (like Mac vs. PC); essentially, if the computer can't read the drive's formatting or doesn't have the necessary drivers to communicate with it, it won't be recognized properly.
