Well, I just installed a front disk brake kit on my 1955 Buick. Easy peasy and I thought the conversion on the 5th wheel was easy. At least these drums were already hydraulic so that was a major reduction in work.

I also needed to add a new radiator and rebuild all the bushings and mounts on the sway bar.

My trailer money tree has been poached for the new toy! What will I do?

Oh, and new wheels and tires go on Saturday :)

Looking really good, Paul. Thanks for posting! I think we need some category other than “Off Topic” for things like this that will be of great interest to many on this forum. Maybe “Hobbies” ?

Good idea Rob. We'll see what the boss says :)

BTW, here's the radiator that went in and the wheels that go on this weekend.

I love old cars. Off topic is a good topic. DW just bought herself a Kymco Spade 150cc motorcycle. Only time will tell if it was good purchase.

So I finished up my current project today mounting the new wheels/tires.

So far I have replace the gas tank, all rubber fuel lines, fuel pump and rebuilt the carburetor due to rust in the tank clogging everything. Replaced the coil and converted to electronic ignition. Replaced the sway bar brackets, bushings and tie rod ends and had the front end aligned. Replaced the OEM radiator with a new aluminum unit. Converted the front drum brakes to disk. Replaced the wheels/tires.

I am having a modest stereo system installed next week. I still need to do some work on the front end. I think the steering box may need to be replaced or rebuilt. I also need to add an electric radiator fan and I need to put new shocks in.

Hey Paul - Rob worked with Chris to get the "Hobbies" section of the forum created. I just moved your thread to that new section. Neat project.

Jim

Note that this is the first post in the new "Hobbies" section :D.

Hey Paul - When I saw the first pictures of the new wheels, I thought . . . those aren’t going to look right . . . but, they look amazing on the car. You certainly know what you are doing!

We were boondocking in a field next to a barn about 3 weeks ago.
After 3 days of curiosity I peeked into the barn and saw this.
I have no idea what make, model or year it is though, what do you guys think?

Model A Ford. My first car was a 1930 A model 5 window coupe (yes, it was already an antique and I wish I still had it). Body looks like a coupe that someone cut the roof off of but I'm no expert in other Model A body styles.

Well this is what I used to do in connection with my auto restoration shop, ASC Racing & Auto Restorations. Nostalgia drag racing with my 66 Charger at National Trail Raceway in Columbus Ohio. That kind of got too expensive just for fun. Had my Charger for 19 years, now we are downsizing.

Now I just putter around in my shop working on friends old rides. Tami and I were drivers for Mecum Auctions for a couple years down here in Texas, that was a lot of fun!! PS she loved that pink Cuda!!

Very nice. 2 cars ago I built a 500 rwhp and nearly 700 ft lb torque Pontiac Trans Am. I drove it to a 131 mph 1/4 mile trap but could only squeeze 11.010 ET because I was already old and slow :)
