Just for fun - how did you choose your handle/user name

Terrible place - I asked them to ban me when I saw how they conducted business - same time frame as you.

As far as ajg617, fell in love with Avro Lancasters when I was young - no clue why except all I wanted to do was fly. AJ call letters for RAF 617 Sqdn. G for George was Wing Commander G P Gibson's aircraft on the great dams raid. Not very original - just a WWII aviation nut.

My wife's father and uncle were both RCAF aircrew flying Lancasters. Her father was the Wireless/Air Gunner (WAG), and her uncle the upper turret gunner. Her uncle was with the 431 Iroquois squadron, and flew 30 combat missions. We have a copy of his mission logbook and our thinking of donating it to the Bomber Command Museum in Nanton, Alberta.

A great place to visit when traveling through southern Alberta.

As for my handle, the name of the street where we purchased our first house.

God bless them both - the RCAF suffered terrible losses. I've always wanted to travel through Canada - have a friend in Ottawa and wanted to see the beautiful great north in person and finally view the northern lights, perhaps even the cross Canada rail tour (sacrilege, I know).

I had at one time heard a rumor that the Nanton Lanc might be restored to airworthy. If you ever get south, the Warhawk Museum in Nampa, ID is well worth a visit.

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton, Ontario has an airworthy Lanc. I believe that there are only 2 such planes remaining in the world.

Check out this link, or search 'Rick Mercer Lancaster Bomber'.

I will keep that in mind. We had plans to go down to Idaho, but boarder closures at the time forced the cancellation of that trip.

My father and his brother were both in the army. My uncle was part of the liberation of The Schedlt. My father's overseas posting was in Labrador. You will have be up on your Canadian history to figure that one out.

Have a great day.

Very interesting thread.

I was a Army helicopter pilot and flew in Viet Nam. Blaster 84 was my call sign.

When I joined, I had recently installed my Tesla Battery Bank and Solar system.

I wanted a name that was catchy and memorable. I originally thought of "Tesla Powered RV", but, I felt that brought too much attention to the "Tesla" part of my system. Consequentially, I chose "Solar Powered RV". It is both memorable, and catchy. It has also proven to be an appropriate choice as many of my posts focus on Solar and Battery Systems.

Back my early days the Cab Over Engine class 8 trucks had several AKA’s, COE, Cabin Over, Flat Face and Skilletface

Wow this thread has been bouncing around for a long time. Enjoyable read.

I love to hunt. In 1999 I got a Brittany pup, Rusty. That puppy changed the trajectory of our lives. I had neve trained a Birddog before, so I set about learning the ropes. Joined thr Arizona Pointing Dog Club. I learned a lot there from its members. Rusty turned out to be a spectacular birddog. She won the clubs points title in 2003 and 2004 in two dominant seasons. With the encouragment of some club members we made the jump to AKC. She earned her Master Hunt title in less than a year. By then she had whelped her first litter and we kept 2 females, Talon and Deni.In Jan. 2005 we competed in our first AKC Field trial. It like most trials was a horseback event. We did not have horses so we did it on foot. julie and Talon were braced with Rumor Too, the 2004 #1 AKC ranked gundog for all breeds. Rumor took 1st and Julie/Talon took 2nd. Her mom, Rusty took 4th.
We were hooked. we had many more dogs and titles running in several National Champioshipsuntil we retired from competition in 2018. And we did it all on foot beating the horseback competiters on a regular basis

When it came time choose a kennel name, Julie proposed BlueCollar Brittanys, as Rusty wore a blue Collar, and we were blue collar workers.... That blue collar soon became our tradmark as our entire line sported blue collars.

I don't hunt anymore, but back in the 70s my best friend and I did some quail and pheasant hunting, along with deer and turkey hunting. My friend John owned a Brittany Spaniel name Bridget. Talk about a great pointing bird dog, oh so many good memories from those days. Thanks for bringing up your reason for the name and detailing what it was all about.

Yes the first time someone sees a first class Gundog perform they are awestruck.
I forgot to mention Tht Julie and and Talon had a rematch with Rumor Too, later at a different location. Talon came out on top winning the trial with Rumor taking 2nd
It was a good day.

I have a small woodworking shop in the basement of our house which produces a bit of dust even though I have and use dust collection equipment. I also have a skin condition called psoriasis. I find myself scratching patches of dry skin (especially in the winter) which results in a pile of dead skin flakes/"dust". Thus the name dustmakertwo came to mind one day...
