So for the most part we have been hiding during this pandemic event...we don't go out to eat, visit with friends - we don't even shop for our own groceries or anything else...Amazon is our friend...

So we were lucky enough to get our first shot over a week ago (We had to travel in separate cars to appointments at about the same time in different locations). This is really the only time I've been out at all lately - AND GUESS WHAT came down with COVID, verified with a test...starting to get over it now - appears the 1st shot may have helped minimize the sickness duration but now the better half is down and out with same..... hope hers is shortened as well..

Go figure....picked it up while in line to get the vaccine...oh brother.....

Guess masks don’t work

Sorry to hear that...get better soon, both of you

Man, that's some bad luck right there. I just received my second shot (Moderna) today and so far, zero side effects. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Here is to a speedy and uneventful recovery for you both.

Just as an FYI, there are several states reporting "breakthrough" cases in fully vaccinated individuals, including Washington, Idaho, South Carolina, Florida and Minnesota. Remember, the reported vaccine efficacy is NOT based on preventing transmission or symptomatic disease, but rather the severity of the symptoms. There are also sporadic reports of vaccinated individuals that develop CLI, but test negative on rapid antigen testing. Researchers suspect these individuals are actually mounting an exuberant immune response to the vaccine that mimics natural infection.

Umph! A good friend has beca voluntary study subject as he's caught COVID-19 three times (yes, 3,) in 11 months. For him, antigens seem to make no difference and after the second time he went full recluse except for an emergency dentist visit and BAM! First time was mild for him, second time he described as severe flu and lingered. He's now in isolated medical care and on oxygen but doesn't seem to be not getting worse (or better). He went in last Friday night.

Wish you a speedy recovery
It's nature! Everyone is going to get exposed to it at some point unless you go live in a cave the rest of your life.

Last Nov our college son came down with Covid. The college said to stay home and remote into classes for 2 weeks.

After two weeks he calls the school and they said he did not need another Covid test to come back to college because he would test positive for up to 90 days after 2 weeks.

Makes ya wonder how good those metrics really are, doesn't it?

I'm going through this right now. A coworker tested positive and can go back to work in ten days without a test because he would test positive anyway. Myself, I've tested negative twice in a week and they still will not allow me back to work until 14 days is up. Hes back at work before me!?! Whatever, it's not gonna kill me financially, I'm just shaking my head trying to understand.

RVTECH... hope you are better soon. It may be just a reaction to the vaccine or as you pointed out the vaccine minimized the effects. I know it must be tough taking the precautions you did. I'm sick of being hunkered down too. I'm fully vaccinated but because I'm ahead of the rest of the family, no Easter together again this year. I really miss that egg toss.
I went to give blood at a Red Cross donation and was told I would test positive because I had my first shot a week before. I came back reactive to sample antibody results they provide. BTW, no after or side effects other than a sore arm.

Yes, the situation with the tests is confusing. An acquaintance of mine was sick for two weeks, now she's feeling fine, took a test, and it's negative again. She's going to have to stay home!

I had a tough time staying [voluntarily] locked down knowing that I was so close to getting vaccinated. And now it's been two and a half weeks since the first shot, I'm starting to feel like I can take more risks. We may actually go out to a restaurant again, that will be nice. Going in for the second shot this Saturday, but statistically I probably already have fairly good protection now.

Can't wait for this pandemic to be a memory.

I became symptomatic about 3 days after arriving at Padre Island TX from AZ, back around Feb 28th. I had to pick it up somewhere in TX before arriving at the Island. This was before the mask mandate was lifted.

Though we were pretty much anti-mask (having gone a year in AZ without wearing one), everyone we came into contact with in TX was in a mask required area, so we were masked when we caught it. My wife still hasn't had it, even though we were unable to isolate from each other while I was sick.

We're not getting the vaccine. Someone else can be the guinea pigs. I should be immune now, and she's been on prophylactic meds.

Glad ya'll came through it ok. I'd not bother with that second shot, if I were you.

Maybe we should all just start living life again.

No way we are getting it either. My 83 year old mother isn’t even going to
Btw we are not “anti-mask” we are pro face. Lol
Humans were not meant to wear masks all day
